Anecdotally, and entirely unscientifically, I think I've discovered one of the greatest motivating factors in the world: The desire to be left alone. I don't mean the desire to BE alone (though as an introvert, that's often the case) but to be LEFT alone.
But politicians won't do that. They spend all their time making sure each and every one of us is on their radar, somehow. In fact, they've insured we can all be pegged as criminals. There are so many laws on the books, we can't help but break one or two every time we inhale. Statistics vary, and no one seems able to give a definitive answer, but by one estimate America has 400,000 laws. I remember reading that 40,627 new laws were implemented in 2010. And yet we watch politicians – over and over again – violate the very laws they impose on us.
So what's up with all the laws? Yes we're a diverse society, but surely we don't need so many rules just to go about our daily lives? Why can't they just leave us alone?
Consider these words from Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged" spoken by a character named Dr. Ferris: "Did you really think that we want those laws to be observed? We want them broken. You'd better get it straight that it's not a bunch of boy scouts you're up against – then you'll know that this is not the age for beautiful gestures. We're after power and we mean it. … There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them.

America may be too large to govern at this present state. It is now like Ancient Rome. It might be time to split up into several new nations.
Lol, yeah 9 millimeters away.
I have variety millimeters and calibers! Heh, Heh.;^}
****
Leave us alone!
Yeah...that and perfecting election stealing
Sod off troll.
The problem is the Communists who took over the Institutions.
Click on my profile before you call me a “troll”.
Ah, I can tell by the gray space where this FReeper posted and the use of the word "troll" who it was who posted to you.
Him calling other FReepers "trolls" seems to happen when he gets triggered that someone does not agree with his viewpoint.
There has arisen a very large and lucrative industry devoted solely to not letting people alone - it’s called “activism”.
Yeah, my CIWS anti-troll system went into “fire on initial detect” mode again.
(Pulls out tool box, opens lid...)
My fault. Apologies.
But the rest of the comment about Commies stands.
That sounds just like "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness".
I think I read that someplace, long, long ago, didn't I?
I do not agree.
First, every one of your suggestions would have resulted in President Trump being impeached within his first 60 days. The stuff of which banana republics are made.
Second, the people who wrote our Constitution were great students of past history and understood very well the dangers. There is no single person or group of persons in our country today with the knowledge and common sense it would take to change the structure of the Constitution. The mess in Washington today proves that point for if we had such people in government, we would not be in this mess to begin with.
What is needed and must happen if we are to survive, is honest elections....zero fraud. Without that no changes in our government will stand longer than the time frame to the next election. Biden and his gangsters have proved that point in a manner that ends the discussion on that point.
LBJ’s Great Society. That b…… was put in office by the greatest generation and early boomers.
Nope he was put into office by a bullet. What happened later was just a sympathy vote for John.
