U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper has previously said he knew Sussmann in the 1990s
The judge in the case of recently indicted Democratic lawyer Michael Sussmann is married to the lawyer who represented a disgraced former FBI official that worked on the Donald Trump-Russia probe that Sussmann played some role in advancing.
U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper of the District of Columbia, who is presiding over the Sussmann case, is married to lawyer Amy Jeffress, who represented FBI lawyer Lisa Page in a civil case.
Cooper, an Obama-appointee, and Jeffress, a former top aide to Attorney General Eric Holder, are well connected in the Democratic party. Current Attorney General Merrick Garland even presided over their 1999 wedding.
On Wednesday, yet another wrinkle came during a Zoom conference when Cooper told parties in the case that he knew Sussmann in the 1990s when both worked for the Justice Department and would consider recusal if either side asked.
"I worked in the '90s at the deputy attorney general’s office two years following law school. Mr. Sussmann also worked at the building at the same time in the criminal division. We did not work together or socialize, but I think it’s fair to say we were professional acquaintances," Cooper said, according to The Washington Examiner. "I don’t believe that this creates a conflict, but my regular practice is to disclose these sorts of relationships with lawyers or with parties on the record. And I would advise you that I would be happy to entertain a motion if either side believes there is a conflict on that basis or any other."

p
he needs to recuse himself, plain and simple.

Good.
He should.
He does need to recuse himself. I predict he will not, on the premise that everyone is connected to everyone else in that swamp of DC and he has determined that it won’t effect him in this case.
No, they won’t.
If John Durham is as going after the whole DC Swamp, including the judges and the lawyers, then what better way to do it than to indict Sussmann at the very end of the Statute of Limitations and then watch the conspirators try to deal with it. Maybe picking the right judge is part of the corruption? One can hope.
Of course this case ends up in front of a rat Judge, of course.
All kinds of snags will be thrown into this case until it is deemed “untry-able.”
We have to maintain that judicial impartiality. Maybe Emmet Sullivan can take over. Of course the judge is corrupt. This minnow will get the same “justice” Clinesmith got, a year probation. This isn’t rocket science.
Oh good grief! It just gets better all the time.
No, why would he?
Impressions of impropriety you say, well too bad, they are all democrats so the rules don’t apply.
Democrats can do as they please. All federal crimes will be tried in DC, and you all know what the jury pool consists of (hint — they ain’t republicans).
I ddidn’t know that Lisa Page was involved in a trial. Anybody know the outcome?
And what about that Peter Strzok guy?
Always the familiar names like turds that can never seem to be flushed in the swamp.
And, rather than step up and decide for himself to recuse, he's leaving it to the lawyers to ask him to recuse?
What is his problem with not recusing of his own volition? Why does he need to be asked to? Is that some kind of CYA move?
Conflicts of interest only apply to the little people and conservatives.
The case is ongoing. Lisa Page sued Justice re the release f the e-mails between her and Peter Strzok.

Carter Page sued Lisa Page among others for unlawful surveillance (re FISA applications), but I haven’t found any news about that suit. I guess the judges found that Carter Page did not have standing in that case. (only slightly sarcastic...)
