Pfizer said on Thursday it was recalling all lots of its anti-smoking treatment, Chantix, due to high levels of cancer-causing agents called nitrosamines in the pills.
The drugmaker paused distribution of the drug in June, and has already recalled a number of lots of the medicine so far.
Pfizer asked wholesalers and distributors on Thursday to stop the use and distribution of the tablets immediately.
The company said there was no immediate risk to patients
taking Chantix, but advised them to consult with their health care provider to check the availability of alternative treatments.
Chantix was approved by the FDA in May 2006 as a prescription medication to help adults aged 18 and over quit smoking and is typically used for 12 to 24 weeks.

Unintended consequences are normal in medical science.
Many, many FDA approved treatments have been pulled in history.
There might be a much higher chance for them to discover problems in a treatment that uses technology that has never been tried on a massive scale, that doesn’t have any long term testing, that has scientists trembling in fear to point out problems because they might get cancelled by major medical organizations

I had a doctor who tried pushing that Chantix garbage on me years ago...wanted me to stop smoking cigars....sent me a free sample.
I threw the Chantix in the trash, never went to that doctor again, kept smoking cigars...and the best part....
I outlived them!

FDA approved, and it contains a cancer causing substance. That’s just perfect. Probably cigarettes have fewer side effects.

Some will die much sooner than others, and it’s horrible to see this stuff.
Many are suffering as I write this, and there is NOTHING anyone can do about it. Innocent people are literally poisoned, and they are now helpless.
I took Chantix years ago. It made me sleep a lot more than normal during which time I didn’t smoke. I knew several people who tried quitting using it, and none were successful.
