"It has come to my attention that your educators are distributing essentially what is child pornography in the classroom. I've spoken to a judge this evening; she's already confirmed that," Shubert said. "So I'm going to give you a simple choice. Either choose to resign from this Board of Education, or you will be charged."
While we respect the Mayor's position within the City of Hudson, in accordance with the State laws of Ohio, the supervision of the public schools of this District is the responsibility of the Board of Education. At this time, no Board of Education member has indicated any intention to resign."

Showin’ off?
There’s only one solution which will work: eliminate elected school boards.
Have the board and superintendent be appointed by the Mayor, who will thereby be held responsible for results.
They should be fired AND prosecuted. They don’t deserve a choice.
It's a specialty of elected officials.
Or local school board has been infiltrated by teachers from OTHER districts who reside in our district. Fox guarding Hen.
Being a board member is not carte blanche to commit any crime.
They can still be charged.
The Board’s response seems to indicate that they feel they are immune from ever being charged with child pornography because they are in charge of the schools and the mayor is not.
Seems like they miss the whole point.
School Board, Bond issue, and City Council elections should be held on the day of General Elections. They are deliberately held in separate elections, which supresses the vote.
I think they should be locked up 🔒
"We did not exercise due diligence when we reviewed this resource," Wilch said during the meeting, according to the Cleveland-based news station WEWS-TV. "And as a result, we overlooked several writing prompts among the 642 that are not appropriate for our high school audience."
In a statement shared with Newsweek on Wednesday afternoon, Hudson City School District Board of Education President David Zuro said none of the board's members had resigned or indicated an intent to do so. Zuro's full statement said:
"On Friday, September 10, the Hudson City School District was made aware of writing prompts in a supplemental resource, a writing journal, titled 642 Things to Write About, that contains content not appropriate in a high school setting. The resource was used in a college level course at the school. Application for the course includes parental acknowledgement of a college environment that may include themes or content not found in a more controlled secondary school environment.
Even so, given recent concerns presented by parents of students in this course, the District collected the books and discontinued their use.
In its official capacity, the Board of Education will be ensuring that a thorough investigation and process review has taken place and will utilize the results of the investigation to determine any necessary actions to be taken.

Fine.
The mayor DOES have authority over the police force.
Arrest them.
Precisely, and in our district there is only ONE polling place, the High School campus where ALL the teaches easily vote. Have you noticed that school systems are not mailing out ballots to all the taxpayers?
That started in Indiana in the 80’s. The ISTA recruited teachers from Indianapolis to run for school boards in the adjoining counties where they lived. They also poured money into the races and had an army of teachers who went door to door in the subdivisions campaigning. It was very successful.
they are elected. they can’t be fired in that manner.
You have a lot of faith in the Mayor.
Don’t take more power from the people. The school board election and recall for cause are the ways that school board members should be elected & removed. If their actions trigger law enforcement then a choice given to resign is appropriate.
Yes, his statement made me laugh- he doesn’t grasp that the mayor is looking at this from the side of criminal behavior. The fact that they are elected has no bearing on that. If they break the law then they are just as liable to face the justice system as anyone else.
For people unfamiliar with Ohio, Hudson is a mostly white, upscale small town/suburb located about halfway between Cleveland and Akron.
Unless they are demonRATs.
Why is there a Liberal Arts class at all? I’m certain there is no Conservative Arts class.
