(CNN)The man who was president during the attacks of September 11, 2001, used a speech commemorating the 20th anniversary of that terrible day to call out the "malign force" coursing through the country thanks to the presidency (and post-presidency) of Donald Trump and offered an alternative vision for his party and the country.
George W. Bush gave the speech at the Shanksville, Pennsylvania, site where Flight 93 was brought down -- thanks to the heroics of the passengers who revolted against their hijackers. Here's the key bit (bolding is mine): "In the weeks and months following the 9/11 attacks, I was proud to lead an amazing, resilient, united people. When it comes to the unity of America, those days seem distant from our own. A malign force seems at work in our common life that turns every disagreement into an argument, and every argument into a clash of cultures. So much of our politics has become a naked appeal to anger, fear and resentment. That leaves us worried about our nation and our future together."

One of the funniest videos ever.
He seemed to be referring to AntiFa, BLM and their Democrat supporters.
These guys OR these guys ?
NO CONTEST, PRESIDENT DONALD J TRUMP AND THE HEROS !!!!
Wow he threw shade? Did he clap back too? Maybe he dunk on him while he was at it.
So true, what a pathetic little man. I cannot believe I worked my ample ass off for this loser twice. Once I even caught, held at gun point until a sheriff could arrive and testified in court against 2 school district union employees I caught red handed spray painting 4 X 8 Bush campaign signs.
Not only is he pathetic, he’s a weak sister, no offense to other weak sisters out there, a mendacious reprobate educated beyond his common sense without any genuine convictions and he and his wife are ugly people both physically and spiritually.
Bush is still upset at President Donald J Trump who belittled his little low energy brother Jeb.
MAGA !!!
The people are awakening and the GOPe time is done.
**************
Some truth to that but most people have no idea how entrenched and effective the RNC/GOP really is. They are not giving up and they are not going away. The party is very good at making reps dependent on them. Very, very good.
The GOP does not, and never will, represent the interests of conservatives and their values. We need a new party that actually stands for something because the old one is a waste of our votes. We stand no chance of ever restoring greatness in this country until we rid ourselves of the feckless and useless GOP. JMHO
Uh President Bush, how’s that nation building thing going these days?
Note to myself: If you ever start two wars, gets thousands of people killed looking for weapons of mass destruction, preside over the a Global Financial crisis and start a Great Recession, blame Donald Trump for absolution.
Trump is laughing at Bush “throwing shade” after he threw liddle bruddah Jeb! out of the race and sent him home to mommy.
GWB should have learned not to cry over spilled guac.
Vanit/Confession: The Presidency of DJT really exposed my lack of critical thinking on GWB, Romney, McCain, Ryan, McConall et al. I was never in the dark about Dems but i was about GOP Establishment until Trump exposed that in a way i could easily understand.
Yay me.
According to CNN, Bush “threw shade” at Trump. Sorry ... I don’t see it.
“A malign force seems at work in our common life that turns every disagreement into an argument, and every argument into a clash of cultures. So much of our politics has become a naked appeal to anger, fear and resentment. That leaves us worried about our nation and our future together.”
He’s not wrong. And Trump wasn’t the cause of all that ... he was a symptom. Pelosi and company started that ball rolling back in 2006. But CNN and their ilk like to pretend that division only started after Trump was elected. They lie to themselves.
Well, you could always "clap back" whenever that phrase is used.
Sorry ... that one's just as bad.
It is easy to say that Bush was referring to Trump, but he did not specifically point out Trump supporters even if CNN wants it to be so.
Bush could well have been calling out cancel culture, Antifa, riots, etc. What he said was did not seem targeted to any particular political faction.
I am not defending what was said, only pointing out Bush might not have been speaking of Trump supporters at all, no matter how much the MSM wishes it to be.
Any remaining affection I had for this dope is now 100% gone. What an ass.
Confused, as usual, GDub completely misses the point. So much of our politics has become a full dress rejection of inane national leadership.
What’s that? More annoying Millennial / Gen Z / Twitterverse banality.
His idiot brother still can't grasp why he was unable to ride his family's coattails to the nomination.
