Producer Prices Soar a Record 8.3% as Bidenflation Runs Hotter Than Expected

Prices charged by U.S. businesses jumped higher than expected in August, data from the Department of Labor said Friday.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Producer Price Index rose 0.7 percent compared with July. Compared with a year ago, the index is up 8.3 percent, the fastest pace of price increases in data going back to 2010.

Economists had forecast PPI to rise by 0.6 percent on a monthly basis, down from the one percent rise reported for July and June. On an annual basis, prices were expected to be up 8.3 percent.

Prices for “final demand” services—those used for personal consumption or exports—rose 0.7 percent. The index for final demand goods moved up 1.0 percent.

Stripping out food and energy price increases, producer prices rose 0.6 percent on a monthly basis and 7.3 percent annually, a larger than expected year over year increase. Excluding trade services, which measure changes in margins of wholesalers and retailers rather than prices, as well as food and energy, producer prices rose 0.3 percent for the month and 6.3 percent for the year, also a larger annual increase than expected.

Add the increases in food and energy and you have a crisis.

The pebble that started all these waves was Biden’s killing the Keystone Pipeline on day one.

“We shop at the same places...”

I’m relatively insulated. Yes, it will hurt me financially, but for that bit of pain, there will be serious suffering for many Biden voters. The only way to educate them is with pain.

Stripping out food and energy price increases,

And why do you get to strip that out. These are not more voluntary expenditures than other things.

It's a bit like the Nixon just let them eat cheese pronouncement showing he was oblivious to the cost of cheese - and that it is not a cheap alternative to meat.

Yep,
I hate the pain personally, but want the JoHo voters to feel it as well.
Especially my in-laws.
They get what they vote for and I’ll be telling them all about it when I see them next.
Tit for tat considering what they said about Trump for four years.

Of note, I pay close attention to ag and fertilizer prices.
Way, way up and no end in sight.
Food will be even that much more expensive going forward.

but for that bit of pain, there will be serious suffering for many Biden voters.

Did you miss the 25% in the increase for food stamps??

A few items I bought yesterday at the grocery from last week:

Bread, up from 3.69 to 4.29, arnold rye
Nectarines, up from 2.99lb to 3.99lb.
Coffee creamer, up from 2per qt to 2.50.
Salmon, 9.99lb to 13.99lb
Snapper, 16.99 to 21.99lb
grapes, cheaper to buy wine!

Since we work, not on food stamps so it does affect us as I have adjusted our food budget up 5%. The good news is we buy less and I am losing weight!!
