You are absolutely correct. I thought about applying to a Foreign Service job back in 1994 and the entrance exam sample questions contained many concerning East Coast high society. Questions concerning Broadway plays or concert symphony composers, all the shit that nobody from Montana would ever know.
Decimation is too easy. Good thing I’m just an old retired Ranger. If I was in charge I’d knock off 50%. Just to encourage the rest. Then knock off 50% of those that didn’t get encouraged. Rinse znd repeat till it gets fixed.
If I had to guess, I’d say that there is someone in Afghanistan who knows something, and the State Dept doesn’t want them to get back to the US to tell their story.
