Ever since Korea, the State Department has been given way too much authority over running of foreign police actions that should have been left to the military.
They are not even trying to hide it anymore.
Imagine Carter saying the hostages would not be permitted to land by the US if a private plane was able to rescue them.

I just assumed that the Taliban was keeping the planes from leaving Afganistan, but seeing it reported that the US State Dept. is the one. This is totally crazy if true and I can’t get my mind around the US doing this even with Biden and his henchmen running the government.

Given that Biden apologist Jennifer Griffin was involved in writing this article, I believe it.
One happy result of Rex Tillerson’s unhappy tenure as SoS was the force reduction among State Department dead wood. Hundreds of compromised and complicit career agents of foreign countries left the service and were riffed. Never the less, the State Department remains the only original cabinet office that has never been reformed. It needs to be gone over with a very stiff rake.
