Road Trip: Fort Knox, Kentucky

KYftknox1

Fort Knox is a United States Army installation in Kentucky, south of Louisville and north of Elizabethtown. It is adjacent to the United States Bullion Depository, which is used to house a large portion of the United States' official gold reserves, and with which it is often conflated.

It currently holds the Army Human Resources Center of Excellence, including the Army Human Resources Command.

It is named in honor of Henry Knox, Chief of Artillery in the American Revolutionary War and the first United States Secretary of War.

The United States Army Human Resources Command is a command of the United States Army established in 2003 from the merger of the United States Total Army Personnel Command (PERSCOM) in Alexandria, Virginia and the United States Army Reserve Personnel Command (AR-PERSCOM).

HRC is a direct reporting unit (DRU) supervised by the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel (DCS), G-1, focused on improving the career management potential of Army Soldiers.[1][2] From basic training through retirement, Regular Army and United States Army Reserve Soldiers have one agency to assist in career management. HRC was a field operating agency of the DCS, G-1 prior to December 2017.

KYftknox5

HRC is located on Fort Knox, Kentucky, and includes 40 operational elements around the country under the leadership of the HRC commander. HRC is the functional proponent for military personnel management (except for the Judge Advocate General's Corps and the Chaplain Corps). HRC also supports the Director, United States Army National Guard, and the Chief, Army Reserve, in their management of the Selected Reserve.

The 4th Cavalry Brigade is an AC/RC unit based at Fort Knox, Kentucky. The unit is responsible for training selected United States Army Reserve & National Guard units that are based East of the Mississippi River. The brigade was originally formed as an element of the 2nd Cavalry Division but was inactivated after the division was broken up. The unit was formerly designated as 4th Brigade, 85th Division. The brigade is a subordinate unit of the 1st Army.

Complete in Christ

Bible in a Year:

So you also are complete through your union with Christ.

Colossians 2:10 nlt

In a popular film, an actor plays a success-driven sports agent whose marriage begins to crumble. Attempting to win back his wife, Dorothy, he looks into her eyes and says, “You complete me.” It’s a heart-warming message that echoes a tale in Greek philosophy. According to that myth, each of us is a “half” that must find our “other half” to become whole.

The belief that a romantic partner “completes” us is now part of popular culture. But is it true? I talk to many married couples who still feel incomplete because they haven’t been able to have children and others who’ve had kids but feel something else is missing. Ultimately, no human can fully complete us.

The apostle Paul gives another solution. “For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. So you also are complete through your union with Christ” (Colossians 2:9–10 nlt). Jesus doesn’t just forgive us and liberate us, He also completes us by bringing the life of God into our lives (vv. 13–15).

Marriage is good, but it can’t make us whole. Only Jesus can do that. Instead of expecting a person, career, or anything else to complete us, let’s accept God’s invitation to let His fullness fill our lives more and more..

Reflect & Pray

How have you sought spiritual fulfillment through people instead of God? How does Jesus’ completing you change your view of marriage and singleness?

Jesus, thank You for making me complete through Your death, resurrection, forgiveness, and restoration.

Fort Knox 1990! Fun times going up and down those rolling hills. Let me know if you marched Agony, Heartbreak and Misery at Fort Knox as well. How did you do? I had no problems, seemed easy to me.

Good evening, radu...still sweltering? Did you have to run errands today?

We have had sun off and on, but the temps have made it up to 61.

A nice day to putter. I’ve gotten a bunch of little stuff done. I’ve been checking on my work site all weekend...it was/is down, per schedule, for who knows what. Work starts at 8am and one of the 2 main sites is/has been down.

If it’s not up by morning, Tuesday is not going to be good.

Howdy, Kathy.

It was a nice day today. 80 degrees and low humidity. I thought it was supposed to be warmer that’s tomorrow. I was a day off. Got the errands done but groceries were a pain. Had to go to three stores to get what we needed. Too many empty shelves in all of them.

It was nice to see some sunshine up there today. Clouds sure hung on to the mountains though. They finally broke up enough a couple of hours ago to create some pretty sun/shadow patterns on the mountains.

NOT GOOD that your work site has been down. You NEED it! Someone better get on the stick and get everything up and running fast! This week’s already going to be a killer since you’re shorted a day.
