President Biden plans to travel to Louisiana on Friday to meet with state and local officials and view the destruction caused by Hurricane Ida.
The White House said in a statement that Biden will travel to New Orleans “to survey storm damage from Hurricane Ida and meet with State and local leaders from impacted communities.”
Plans for the visit were first reported by The Advocate on Wednesday.
Biden has received regular briefings on the storm. He met virtually with Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards (D) and other state and local officials on Monday and led a call with energy sector leaders about restoring power following the storm on Tuesday.

He’s always wanted to try nutria ice cream.
Gator got yer granny......... Little poke salad on the side.
Just what LA public safety does NOT need...the resource stresses brought on by a Presidential visit and its security detail.
STFA, Stolen!
Bidet is going to wave his magic wand and power will be restored immediately.
We live in the age of miracles!
The Hill just wuvs this guy.
Hide the little kids.
He should go to Afghanistan. Be a man.
Exactly.
He needs to stay the hell away. Those people in Louisiana have more important things to do than guide a senile old fool around .................
Joe heard a Po’ Boy went missing during the storm, and he wants to make sure he finds his way back home.
Right after Katrina, this was one criticism of Bush, that he didn’t get to New Orleans quick enough. And Bush and his people cited the issues involved when the president goes anywhere. But to the liberals, it was just more indications that Bush didn’t do enough after Katrina to help them.
I predict the media and local officials in Louisiana, will heap praises upon Biden’s handling of the disaster relief efforts.
If the power is restored ahead of schedule, the credit will be to Biden for making it happen.
Then look for stories contrasting Biden’s alleged good disaster relief efforts, with Bush after Katrina.
Will he pass out water and get mocked by the media?
One has to ask
“What would Beau do?”
No doubt he’ll bring up the tragedy of his son, Beau’s, death.
The little girls anyhow.
Isn’t this what we have an entire agency for, FEMA?
Do a flyover and call it done.
A mere gesture.
Even a visit from a sentient president just gets in the way.
He will likely relate to the people who lost their homes and property citing his personal experience in such tragedy when his son Hunter got kicked out of his mistresses (Beau's wife) house and she threw all his belongings on the front lawn.
