More than 42,000 Californians have been forced to flee their homes as nine large wildfires continue to burn out of control in the northern part of the state, prompting Gov. Gavin Newsom to request a major disaster declaration from President Biden.
The Caldor Fire, which has scorched 106,562 acres, is the top firefighting priority in the nation, according to Chief Thom Porter of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Prevention (Cal Fire).
Officials fear the fire, which is just 5% contained, may push its way into the populated Lake Tahoe Basin, and they warned all Californians to be ready to evacuate.

They better all have masks on…
Did Newsome surround and close all the airports?
Let it burn, and for God’s sake, stop using water on it. Don’t they know that water is reserved for Southern California?!
Logging and lumber used to be a manor industry in Northern California before the communists basically killed the industry. Now everything is overgrown, ladder fuel everywhere….. all they need to do is let us log. But no…..
Major not manor…..
The goes Nature campaigning against poor, stupid, and useless Gov. Newsom.
Have no fear. Once the Democrats rid the US of us unsophisticated deplorables, they’ll put undocumented and uneducated immigrants back to work clearing the forests (among other things) and turn the clocks back to 1858.
Some of these fires are arson caused. Punishment has to be severe. But as with everything else real crimes are ignored.
Lots of Trump supporters in the Sierra communities. Flyover zones to Socal. The firefighters have been fighting bravely to save many of these little towns.
S Lake Tahoe is both Calif & Nevada.
The fire doesn’t respect a state line.
I am completely smoked over here in N Nevada. ASH is on every surface in the house. NOT doing anything outside that I don’t absolutely have to do.
Spent Sunday watching reruns of DOG- The Bounty Hunter—and the NHRA drag races from Brainard, MN.
I drove to Carson City today from California for a medical appointment. The smoke was was very heavy and thick.
This has to help Gavin Newsom’s fight to stop his recall. /sarc
I have 2 crews out from Arizona parked in my front yard right now, they’ll be spending the night to see if the spot fire about 400 yards away gets past the cat (dozer) line that was put in on my property holds through the night.
Good people, (city crews out of Yuma, Arizona) my dogs love them!!!!
I take good care of my property and keep a good clearance around the house, chicken house, and the barn; but if the winds kick up again all bets are off.
2 crews and a pumper are good, but it would have been a lot better if my neighbors (THE FOREST SERVICE) would do a little upkeep on their property!!!!!!
ONE year, maybe.
TWO years...realm of possibility.
THREE or more years with fires like this...Nuh-uh.
There’s a criminals out there doing some of this on purpose.
Be REAL good for locals to catch ‘em and take care of it.
QUIETLY.
No real justice in CA otherwise.
“Some of these fires are arson caused. Punishment has to be severe. But as with everything else real crimes are ignored.”
Amen
“My Opinion: Far TOO MANY FIRES to be considered natural happenstance.”
It’s all being covered up
I just upped my homeowners insurance. It will have to travel quite a ways to reach my place, but who knows when fire might break out on the north end of the lake.
