Barack Obama gets San Jose boulevard named for him

California's third most populous city has renamed a section of a prominent street "Barack Obama Boulevard."

The boulevard through downtown San Jose is the first street in the Bay Area to be named for the nation's first Black president after four years of planning, FOX 2 of the Bay Area reported.

"We always felt like it was going to happen because there was bipartisan support," Alex Shoor, who proposed the idea in 2017, told The Mercury News. "San Jose is a progressive, open-minded city. Most of us want to grow up in a country where any one of our children can reach their dreams and ascend to the highest office in the land."

Don't know if it's still true but there was a time when Chris Rock was a pretty courageous guy. The clip you cited is from the "Bring The Pain" concert he did quite a while ago. In that same concert there's a piece called "Black People vs Niggaz". It's pretty courageous IMO. Also,he once did a video called "How Not To Get Your A$$ Kicked By The Police". Also pretty courageous.

All bank accounts-—all stationary/invoices etc have to be redone. ALL deeds to property have to be redone.

I lived there for 20 years, and I was about to chime in along your lines. Calling it a “boulevard” really gussies it up more than the facts on the ground warrant. The issue, I would imagine, is the expense to the property owners. If they had the courage of their co fictions they’d rename Santa Clara St, or Almaden Blvd

it is a pretty inconsequential little street (except for the stadium)

san fransicko renamed Army Street into Ceasar Chavez Blvd several years ago.

everyone including all of our Latino friends still call it Army Street, however, no disrespect for Chavez either it is just known as Army Street as it was named to honor the US Army.
