I lived there for 20 years, and I was about to chime in along your lines. Calling it a “boulevard” really gussies it up more than the facts on the ground warrant. The issue, I would imagine, is the expense to the property owners. If they had the courage of their co fictions they’d rename Santa Clara St, or Almaden Blvd

san fransicko renamed Army Street into Ceasar Chavez Blvd several years ago.
everyone including all of our Latino friends still call it Army Street, however, no disrespect for Chavez either it is just known as Army Street as it was named to honor the US Army.
