Civil Reserve Air Fleet is just for headlines and Biden knows it. Plenty of mil aircraft. Commercial airliners don’t even have midair refuel capability. Slows down and endangers operations just for clicks.

Why would they want anyone to think we’re having to rely on our commercial air carriers vs our own military?

I believe that these “drafted” aircraft are not to penetrate Afghan airspace but to move people that have already been evacuated to other countries.
How are the Americans there getting food, water, and adequate shelter? I mean, there’s no Walmart in Kabul.
This is a taxpayer funded bailout of the airline industry. Instead of being open about giving them taxpayer money, they’re going to have these airlines bill the government for flights out of third-party nations back to the United States.

I don’t get the refueling thing. Passenger planes fly everywhere in the world every day. So what if they have to land in Europe or elsewhere and refuel? Drop some people off while you are at it.
The USAF may be keeping the military planes available, just in case some China threat emerges.
Well they did say that a holding center in Qatar? was full. This is to move them out of the holding place and import them to the US faster.
Of course that doesn’t matter while people can’t get to the airport in Kabul.
