Afghan officer who fought with US forces rescued from Kabul

Time was running out for Mohammad Khalid Wardak, a high-profile Afghan national police officer who spent years working alongside the American military...

After at least four attempts in as many days, the family finally was whisked away by helicopter Wednesday in a dramatic rescue — called Operation Promise Kept — carried out under cover of darkness by the U.S. military and its allies...

He was widely known because of his position as police chief in southern Afghanistan’s Helmand province and from television appearances, including one in which he challenged the Taliban to a fight, supporters said.

Green said he was “incredibly happy ... elated,” when he learned that Khalid and his family were safe, noting that some of his American rescuers had worked alongside Khalid, which he called “serendipitous.”

A fluffer story to distract from the abysmal horror shows elsewhere.

“Good, now only 14,999 to go”

Actually, he’s an Afghan, so back to 15,000 Americans.

If 1% of the population does NOT want Sharia to be the law of the land (as the Pew poll reported), that’s roughly 380,000 Afghans who still need to be rescued.

True but we need to hear a good story about an Afghan ally saved.

We’re hearing and will hear a lot of bad ones ahead. A lot.

I read yesterday that there was a plan for ‘alternate routes’ to the airport

struck me as a bit odd - say they opened a gate on the military side - the afghanis will all just crowd that gate, too. So I asked myself, self - does that maybe mean the airport might not mean THE airport?

Gotta be a plan B. and C. right? maybe? hopefully?

You may be right, I thought the 15,000 was Americans and Afghanis who actually worked and fought beside us. Not the ones who were janitors in the embassy but ones who actually helped

Are we sure current US was responsible. Sounds like British helped some people that were former US employees

This doesnt read like it was a Woke Milley operation

“Not the ones who were janitors in the embassy but ones who actually helped”

That distinction is meaningless to the Taliban.

I wonder if he spoke the truth about what was the real state of the afghan military?

So Americans await a possibly uglier fate while the military rescues foriegn assets. Now we know what the priorities are, after seeing planes packed with Afghans while Americans are told to stay away and finish their paperwork.

Shouldn't these Afghani's be fighting for their country instead of running way from it?
