Bible in a Year:
[Saul said], “The Lord delivered me into your hands, but you did not kill me.”
The farmer climbed into his truck and began his morning inspection of the crops. On reaching the farthest edge of the property, his blood began to boil. Someone had used the farm’s seclusion to illegally dump their trash—again.
As he filled the truck with the bags of food scraps, the farmer found an envelope. On it was printed the offender’s address. Here was an opportunity too good to ignore. That night he drove to the offender’s house and filled his garden with not just the dumped trash but his own!
Revenge is sweet, some say, but is it right? In 1 Samuel 24, David and his men were hiding in a cave to escape a murderous King Saul. When Saul wandered into the same cave to relieve himself, David’s men saw a too-good-to-ignore opportunity for David to get revenge (vv. 3–4). But David went against this desire to get even. “The Lord forbid that I should do such a thing to my master,” he said (v. 6). When Saul discovered that David chose to spare his life, he was incredulous. “You are more righteous than I,” he exclaimed (vv. 17–18).
As we or our loved ones face injustice, opportunities to take revenge on offenders may well come. Will we give in to these desires, as the farmer did, or go against them, like David? Will we choose righteousness over revenge?
Reflect & Pray
When have you most felt like getting even with someone? How can David’s response guide you as you seek justice for yourself and others?
Jesus, lover of our enemies, may I seek justice Your way.

Have you had a relatively restful day? Looks like you had a beautiful day to sit on the deck for a bit to relax and read.
Howdy, luvie.
Had a good weekend so far?
It’s been a soggy one here and we’re getting a second long round of rain now.
Then the sauna returns for the next several days.
Hey there, radu!
It’s been an excellent weekend so far. Now it all depends on if I can get to bed at a decent time tonight in order to stay awake in the morning. LOL! It’s HARD for a night owl to give up early...as you know!
I heard that y’all were getting lots of rain in TN and flooding in some areas. I was sure hoping yours wasn’t one of them! Ugh on the sauna returning! Did you have fun at the museum today and yesterday?
He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Force, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our G-d from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.
May HASHEM cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our fighting men from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor.
May He lead our enemies under their sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is Hashem, your G-d, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to save you.
G-d bless and keep your children safe, Alouette.
Weather has been hot and humid here. Not complaining, have AC
Good day not mush working today.
Thank you Kathy, God Bless my FRiend!
Good evening, ML, and a Blessed Lord’s Day and Shavua Tov to you and yours.
Are you needing to prep for Hurricane Henri? Is Blue tied down and safe?
Glad it’s been a good weekend there. I don’t hear any whining - LOL - so it must not be too hot there.
I do hear ya on night owls having a hard time getting up early. Two days in a row each weekend hurts. I’m dragging tonight.
But it was a fun weekend at the museum, though slow. Fridays are generally slow but we expected today to be slow as well due to the rain. It was.
No flooding issues here but northwest of Nashville was hammered. When they showed the precipitation map on the news, there were colors I do recall seeing before. Some areas got 17 inches ..... today! As of now, they say 10 people died and 20 more are missing. Very sad situation. The videos of flooding they’ve been showing tonight are awful.
Our rain was a slow, gentle rain this morning and afternoon and that’s what we needed. It all soaked in. It’s been heavy tonight and when it stops I’ll check the rain gauge to see what out grand total is.
No whining! It was in the high 80s. I can certainly live with that. LOL! We got 1 1/2” of rain on [I think] Wednesday. It was hard and long and wonderful!
I did hear about the casualties from the flooding. Terrible! I’m glad that kind of rain didn’t reach you. Good that you had a good time at the museum. What’s not to love! :)
Good evening, lightman, and a Blessed Lord’s Day to you and yours.
And a blessed Thirteen Sunday after Pentecost (Western)/Ninth Sunday after Pentecost (Orthodox).
Any issues with Henri?
