BOSTON (AP) — One hundred people who had been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus died from the disease in Massachusetts by the end of July, according to the state Department of Public Health.
In about three-quarter of the breakthrough cases, the patients reported having underlying conditions, the department said. The median age of those who died was 82.5 years.
The deaths represent a tiny fraction — about 0.002 percent — of all fully vaccinated individuals in the state, according to state health officials.
“Breakthrough cases in Massachusetts are incredibly low, and those hospitalized or who have died are even lower,” department officials said in a written statement.
“All available data continue to support that all three vaccines used in the US are highly protective against severe disease and death from all known variants of COVID-19. The best way to protect yourself and your loved ones is to get vaccinated,” the statement added.
The department also reported 395 breakthrough hospitalizations in the state.

A hundred sounds like a lot if you were vaxed?
Half the country is made up of Typhoid Marys.
Terrific.
so it’s just a tiny % important to those people’s families? no other vaccine in our country was allowed to kill so many and continue to still be pushed on the rest of the public. these people who think it’s so insignificant are severely mistaken. Especially since covid 19 is over 99% survivable. The elderly just need to boost their vitamins and some other things and they would have a huge advantage when they come in contact with it.
MA health officials lie. not all available data says that nor supports that.
206 people have died since June 1 of Covid. 100 of them were fully vaccinated. 65% of the population of Massachusetts is fully vaccinated, probably much more of the elderly. This doesn’t look good, folks.
Oh wow... I missed the fact that he cut off his stats at July 31. So that means 175 people have died since June 1 of Covid in Massachusetts. 100 of them were fully vaccinated.
So they will push for more boosters, and we will have more deaths. I am glad I don’t work, or go anywhere and haven’t been vaccinated.
For something that was billed as preventing covid, 100 deaths are a lot.
They keep moving the goal posts.on what the vaccine does. First it was touted that it protected you from getting Covid. Then it was revealed you could still get Covid and could transmit the disease, but your symptoms would be less than if not vaccinated.
Now some vaccinated are dying and the article downplays the numbers as really very low. But they’re comparing it to the entire population of vaccinated.
If they were ready interested in the efficacy of the vaccines, there needs to be side by side comparisons over time between vaccinated and unvaccinated populations. Is the vaccine losing its ability to protect? How quickly? Is the vaccine actually increasing the probability of contacting Covid variants?
I see others have found problems with these numbers.
The item that caught my attention is the average age of those who died was 82. So they should not be comparing and computing against the total vaccinated population. They should be comparing to a sample of the vaccinated population whose age averages 82. This is going to be a much smaller denominator.
Comparing deaths with an average age of 82 against a population with an average age of perhaps 32 is clearly incorrect.
So, the chances of dying if you are vaccinated is much, much less than if you are unvaccinated
Where are you getting that all 100 fully vaccinated Massachusetts deaths were in June and July?
My reading was that they’ve had 100 deaths of fully vaccinated persons since the start, which would have been in December.
Notice that they do not mention which vaccine these people were inoculated with? They were obviously for the most part Pfizer patients. Pfizer was given to seniors back in January... This is August.
Massachusetts has had 5,689 COVID-19 deaths in 2021. If 100 of those are among fully vaccinated persons, that means 98.2% of deaths are not fully vaccinated. If we flip to the end of January, there have been 3,535 deaths in the state. If we assume that not a single fully vaccinated person died before the end of January, that puts deaths among persons not fully vaccinated at 97.2% of the total.
You would have to do some really incredible mathematical trickery to find a way to skew the stats so that it isn’t well over 90% of the deaths happening among the unvaccinated. Fully vaccinated people almost never die from COVID-19. Those who do are so compromised that pretty much nothing on Earth would save them.
Surprise. The vax pushers need to remove all those people who have natural immunity… aka symptomatic COVID positive people from all data before computing. Nothing better than God given multi antigenic immunity.
You would have to do some really incredible mathematical trickery to find a way to skew the stats so that it isn’t well over 90% of the deaths happening among the unvaccinated.
If we were to accept your assumption that "not a single fully vaccinated person died before the end of January," then we would have to also assume that a majority of these "fully vaccinated people" were over 70 years old, since in January the vaccinations were limited to seniors in long-term care facilities and front-line emergency workers.
Remember that the emergency use authorization wasn't even given until December 12, 2020, and the priority was front-line hospital workers and seniors in long-term care facilities.
