Senate Passes $1 Trillion Infrastructure Bill, Handing Biden a Bipartisan Win
New York Times ^ | August 10, 2021 | Emily Cochrane

WASHINGTON — The Senate gave overwhelming bipartisan approval to a $1 trillion infrastructure bill on Tuesday to rebuild the nation’s deteriorating roads and bridges and fund new climate resilience and broadband initiatives, delivering a key component of President Biden’s agenda.

The legislation would be the largest infusion of federal investment into infrastructure projects in more than a decade, touching nearly every facet of the American economy and fortifying the nation’s response to the warming of the planet.

It would provide historic levels of funding for the modernization of the nation’s power grid and projects to better manage climate risks, as well as pour hundreds of billions of dollars into the repair and replacement of aging public works projects.

The vote, 69-30, was uncommonly bipartisan; the yes votes included Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the Senate Republican leader, and 18 other Republicans who shrugged off increasingly shrill efforts by former President Donald Trump to derail it.

Bipartisan win my behind. Huge win for the RATS! The Democrats just got hundreds of billions of dollars for themselves and their cronies. They’ll be getting even more once Pelosi pushes the reconciliation bill in the House.

Assistant Democrats assisting Democrats, it’s what they do.

It’s our fault for re-electing them.

Wonder how popular the bill is with the general public ? Not that I trust opinion polling but I think even moderate Democrats would
Still wince at 1 trillion.

Shortly after I signed up I stated that Alison Grimes was the lesser of the two evils in the 2014 KY Senate race.
Took a lot of heat, but I was right.
She could have been replaced in 2020 with a MAGA Senator.

Sure it was bipartisan: bipartisan graft. By voting for it a bunch of GOP Senators will be getting a nice payday.

.
The Democrats have been very clear, the two are linked,

There’s no $1.2 T without the $3.5T.

The GOP wasn’t even concerned with what was in the bill, they just want to advance Biden’s agenda.

The two are linked and the Dem Leadership has said this for over a month.

.

Better than among the people here.

I don’t know anyone other than the most rabid nutcases who don’t think we need a *LOT* of infrastructure spending.

The only question is how much is actually going to be for stuff we need- roads, bridges, power grid, connectivity- and how much for Social Justice and climate change, etc...

Without a doubt, you can always get a majority in Washington to spend more money, incur more debt, start a new agency or add a raft of regulations.
