The Culture War is hot, and it continues. The furor over Critical Race Theory seems to have died down a bit (perhaps on purpose?), but don’t think we have won. This is likely to continue for quite some time and we know for sure that the leftists will not quit, and neither should we.
I can hear the groans now: “That’s a great way to ruin my family dinner or my pool party barbeque, dude.…” Indeed, it is a risky endeavor, and the decision is yours alone. However, in the culture war and in the battle to preserve America, we may need to fight the good fight at a time not of our own choosing.
I had a recent excursion against CRT and a familiar leftist tactic after viewing a friend’s shared Facebook post:
After a few days of cautious consideration, I replied, “Typical. CRT cannot be argued on its merits because it only divides and tears down and has no merit. Therefore, call opponents to CRT Racist.”
The skirmishes may begin in just this manner and opening volleys will be a shock.
There recently has been very effective public pushback against Critical Race Theory. Therefore, I interpret the post’s author lamenting the lost ground and resorting to what every leftist does as a result – ad hominem attacks against the opposition’s credibility (“Nazi/Fascist/Racist!”). It is an entirely predictable leftist non-answer to opposition on any issue, and an attempt to deflect from addressing the issue on its merits.

It’s best for everyone to recognize CRT for what it is: an open, unapologetic admission on the part of its proponents that black people are inferior to whites and Asians, and therefore should never be expected to compete with them on equal terms.

Perhaps not but there are a lot of folks I’ve met who are very solid in their conservative views but get over talked by the ‘family leftist’ at the annual reunions and barbecues... a leftist who ends up dominating the discussion just because she/he doesn’t get properly challenged.
Having solid beliefs/views and being able to argue those beliefs/views in a calm, cogent and effective/convincing manner are two different things. This usually means going back to the roots of these beliefs and starting from there. I rather liked this article and the ‘refresher to debating’ that it presented.
You can’t argue leftists into a corner. In fact, you can’t argue with a leftist, mainly because they refuse to properly frame the debate. Illegal immigration is a perfect example. Leftists refuse to distinguish between legal and illegal. You can talk yourself blue in the face and never make a dent.

-At the beginning of 1781, the Redcoats had the Colonials on the run in the South, and there was a petty, vicious civil war going on between the settlers in the back-country far more vicious than anything going on today. By the end of 1781, the United States was recognized as a nation.
-At the beginning of 1861, a couple of States seceded and by the end of spring 11 had done so. By the end of 1861, there was full-blown war between two entire regions of the country.
-At the beginning of 1941, the isolationist movement was still strong in the US, with opinion split on whether or not to go to war with the Axis. By the end of 1941, we were in it to the finish. -We're halfway through 2021, and I'm starting to see the lines being drawn in the next civil war.

I guess that that might be an adequate response to shoot back during a bbq. But attacking their premise ("CRT only divides and tears down") is entirely unnecessary! It namely gives them a foothold / excuse to defend their views.
Instead, put the entire burden of proof on them!
A more-succinct response might have been:
Non sequitur! Name-calling! If you cannot explicitly state what, exactly, Mr. Carlson said that was factually incorrect or logically fallacious, please admit that you have no valid argument that you can advance!

Some liberals I know cover their ears and sing “La-La-La” when they are getting backed into a corner by the truth. They will not allow truth, reason, facts, or common sense to alter their world view.
Rational thought has been deemed racist by the left, hasn’t it? Logic doesn’t matter to these people just power.
You make a mistake by saying “they want power”.
While it may be true for some of them, that is NOT always “what they think” and you have no way of knowing “what they think”. You should never use the phrase “They want...”, except in a question form.
It’s true that may actually be what some of them think, and they know they are using socialism to gain power, and know they are being deceptive... but many just think they are being ‘nice to people’ by sharing your money with everyone else.
I know people like that. One of them is this sweet beautiful girl who you dearly hope never sees the results of her actions. To her it would be like going to save a tiny baby bird and accidentally stepping on and crushing it.
And they are NOT all scheming to obtain power, some just really really really think think that government ‘helps’ people, and it will be so nice when they control everything and force you to be as good as they are.
So they do it with the benefit of their own conscience.
Ayn Rand had a really good essay on why a robber baron is better than a liberal, and states the above far better than I could.
