Spirit Airlines canceled almost half of its flights on Thursday, continuing its series of flight cancellations into a fifth day.
Flight tracker FlightAware showed 381 flights canceled by Spirit Airlines before 10 a.m. on Thursday, with 48 percent of flights for the day already canceled, USA Today reported.
It is the fifth day Spirit Airlines has struggled with flight cancellations as more than 50 percent of flights were canceled Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Around 42 percent of flights were canceled Monday.

I have family members who were impacted by this so a little research turned up that passengers were claiming that the pilots all walked off the job. My own relative said that after she sat around waiting for 7 hours looking at the plane but not being allowed to board the crew got off - no pilots among them - and the flight was cancelled. Spirit insists there is no issue with pilots but I have to wonder.

Why would you ever book spirit in the first place. Me daughter was flying with lap baby on AA. After canceling her flight and 3 flight changes and 8 hrs at airport, I told her walk to Delta. I paid full fair but she left on a direct flight and got home safely and quickly.

I flew on Spirit exactly once - out of Vegas on short notice. From the experience, I assume they do most of their marketing in trailer parks.

Either they can’t find any or they can’t afford any.

Once for me too. Since then I’ve paid more to use other airlines.
We were simply ignorant about the damned spirit scam. It pays to check the reputation of outfits, people we deal with. We didn’t and we had our $ taken from us. And a big amount of inconvenience too

We work around the extra costs by booking 2 single fares and packing everything into one suitcase. It costs me 10 Euros to book a seat next to hers.
