In 1977, Jimmy Carter instituted a nationwide 55 MPH maximum speed on the nation's highways. Nobody obeyed. All it accomplished was a disregard of a law by mostly law-abiding citizens. One can argue that once the populace deems that a law is nonsensical and stop obeying, it leads to the ignoring of other laws and regulations. Jimmy Carter, now considered the worst president in generations, lost the respect of the American public with one simple act.
I posit that the recent u-turn on mask mandates will backfire on Biden and the Dems in a similar fashion. People see through the lies and understand that they (Biden and the Dems) are merely trying to control behavior to suit their political aims.
Let's hope they meet the same fate as Carter in 1980, when he lost to Reagan in a landslide.
Or 78 degrees…
Get Sammy Hagar to write a song. (I can’t drive 55)
Nixon signed the 55 Federal limit on his way out. Hence a pair of 5’s is forever know as Nixon’s revenge.
Ditto !
Defiance will be more difficult if your employer follows the CDC guidelines and implements a mask mandate.
These decisions are being made by people who never missed a paycheck, worked from home where they didn't have to wear a mask, and ordered groceries from Amazon.
Do any of these people know what it's like to have to wear a mask for ten hours a day?
I see this ignorance quite often. I don't know why it bothers me so much so that I have to post how stupid this comment it. But I must.
Have you never heard of Lyndon Johnson, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama and now Joe Biden?
Jimmy Carter is literally and figurativley a Sunday School Teacher in comparison to these bums. Malaise? Inflation? The Panama Canal?
Two bit nothing burgers compared to what LBJ or Obama did.
Hence the word ‘considered’. Clearly you have different considerations but that doesn’t make the post ‘stupid’, just different.
Yeah. And Ford signed the law into effect.
Blame Carter for this or that. But not the Double Nickel.

Biden doesn’t care. Carter didn’t have the vote fraud system that’s in place now.
New York Times, 11/27/1977, Carter Agrees to a plan on 55 MPH.

Hate to break it to the author, but he was considered one of the worst presidents in 1978 as well.

OK. I retract the point about Carter being considered the worst as stupid.
And reapply stupid to your point that Carter was responsible for the Double Nickel. He wasn’t. See previous posts.
Have a better day.
Masks are Biden’s “Peace in our time.”
I can't mask like you ask.
Hate to tell you, but Nixon instituted it in 1974. That was the year I got my license. All the truck driver songs bitching about it were out in 1975 and 1976.
Point taken - Nixon signed an order with no enforcement mechanism. Carter imposed the withholding of Federal highway dollars to states that could not prove they were enforcing the rule. Maybe I should have cited increasing encroachment of the Fed into States’ issues and better example.
He did a lot more than that to be considered one of the worst presidents of all time.
