I think normal is 6 to 4, meaning six minutes of content followed by four minutes of commercials.
That gives six ten-minute segments per hour, called "blocks" -- A-block, B-block, etc.
Yes, it's not always 6-4, sometimes they split those to 3-2, meaning three minutes content, two minutes of commercials.
And during very special events they may run no commercials.
Anyway, I haven't watched these Olympics, so can't say what they are doing, but it might even resemble American football games where they throw in commercials at every possible opportunity.
And, of course, the most annoying commercials, even if they are relatively short, can seem to run on & on forever.
I have watched some of the Olympics. Most of the athletes are there to represent us proudly. The women’s soccer team and the men’s B ball team can go scratch though.
3x3 basketball is great. First time I ever watched more than a second of a women’s game let alone an entire one. Half court, 10 minutes or first to 21.

Apparently those ads are what NBC's viewers are looking for. It's the Dem and WOKE crowd NBC carved out for itself over the last 20 years.
The terrible ratings not only WOKE the Peacock, he folded his feathers and scampered out of sight as the advertisers broke out their shotguns.
There must be some stiff performance penalties in the contract with those advertisers. Which means the Olympics will be a big loss for Comcast. Such a shame. /s
Comcast’s big rivals AT&T and Verizon have been bailing out of the entertainment and media business. AT&T put CNN (WarnerMedia) on its chopping block. At least they are well positioned to do well as the era of 5G arrives.
Comcast can't play in 5G because they own no mobile infrastructure. So it's sink or swim for them with entertainment/media as Netflix and Amazon pick off their customers by going over the top.

I have maybe watched 2 minutes of the Olympics by accident when changing channels.
