Gymnastics superstar Simone Biles took a cue from tennis pro Naomi Osaka by pulling out of the team final after a shock error on her first event, insisting that she needed to 'focus on her mental health' because 'there is more to life than just' sport.
Speaking about her sensational exit from competition, which cleared the way for Team USA's Russian rivals to claim gold in a dramatic upset, the 24-year-old revealed that it came as a result of her personal mental health struggles and her desire to prioritize her 'wellbeing'.
'To focus on my wellbeing,' she told reporters of her reasons for pulling out of the competition following a sensational flub on the vault, echoing the statement issued by Naomi, 23, when she pulled out of the French Open earlier this year because of her own mental health struggles.
Shrugging, Simone added: 'And you know, there's more to life than just gymnastics.
'It is very unfortunate that it has to happen at this stage because I definitely wanted this Olympics to go a little bit better but again, we'll take it one day at a time and we're going to see how the rest goes.'
The gymnast also insisted that her decision to pull out of the competition after just one event - when she was due to take part in all four - was made, in part, to help her team, saying that she 'didn't want to risk the team medal' with 'her screw up'.
'I thought it was best that these girls took over the job which they absolutely did,' she continued. 'They are Olympic silver medalists now and they should be really proud of themselves now for how well they did last minute.'

Greg Norman made all of his millions on his “Shark” brand sportswear.
It should be called Shark brand for chokers.
Yes. It shows you putting yourself in the mix and hopefully once or twice you get the breaks and win. Because no matter how good you are you still need some breaks.
No doubt, usually a chip in or a long putt. Sometimes just a 175 yarder that sticks the pin for a kick in bird.
From youtube video by Dr. Steve Turley. Note that he quotes Simone Biles directly.
In Turley’s video:
In a recent interview for Vogue magazine, Biles commented on BLM. She said, “We need change. We need justice for the black community. With the peaceful protests, it’s the start of change, but it’s sad that it took all of this for people to listen.”
Then speaking about Breonna Taylor, she said, “Breonna will be remembered. She’s going to find justice.”
She also did an Uber Eats commercial with a homosexual celebrity saying, “The LGBTQIA will always have my support.” When she was criticized for that, she tweeted, “the world we live in makes me sad, but I’d do a x1000000 more commercials with you jut to piss everyone off! The LGBTQIA will always have my support and feel welcome on my socials.”
Team member Jade Carey had liked a pro-police tweet, and when critized for it, apologized and groveled. She tweeted, “Liking the post was totally like a reflex by accident and I 100% stand by the blm movement and acknowledge police brutality. I am truly sorry and will be sure I never do it again.”
There is more if you watch the video.
I can understand her becoming mentally/physically exhausted. Training in gymnastics tough. In addition, there was her reported involvement with BLM and Colin, and hate is extremely draining and exhaustive and hinders concentration.
That’s what I thought exactly. Some kind of REVENGE against the whole country with the typical 0b0z0 “get in their face!”
Here she is: “ but I’d do a x1000000 more commercials with you jut to piss everyone off!”
“Everyone”??? OK, she cut her nose to spite her face. No more commercials and endorsements, hopefully.
She didn’t have to cut her nose, so to speak, she’s plenty fugly. However, one can’t tell the difference between her face and her arse! Hard to tell whether she’s defecating or just talking.

She went all the way to the Olympics twice and now decides there’s more to life than sports? What a little drama queen!
Bruce Jenner became a gorgeous woman named Caitlyn.
IOW, a deranged mental patient.
I wonder if he got everything cut off.
So sad; so sick.
Yes, I think it was Mr. Shorter!
I can still see him in my mind’s eye.
Always watched the Olympics with my dad.
👍
I’ve fought a lot of black men in my life....brutal adult male lion fights from as early as 13 and 14 and some big ones in my 30s
And I’ve watched them fight a lot amongst themselves as they are prone when they covet something..another black has
You take a robust black man and he gets geared up to fight and is trying to geek up his buddies to help especially against a large white man like me and he invariably invokes race
They always start a little silly crying thing sort of a whimper plea for their buddies to help or actin hurt they just have to fight you....they cry...I kid u not...like children
It’s weird.....
And it’s a good time to punch their wide nose cause if you don’t a sucker punch is on the menu for your temple or jawbone
The sound of squealing tennis shoes on cement...u don’t forget that ....some of those would have resulted in severe injury to me had I gotten a beat down
They are emotional and more irrational ....they do dumb stuff like shooting people impromptu in front of witnesses
A different race in my book....I think of that when I hear black fragility....
Yes there are good ones..
To tell the truth I looked at recent Olympic gymnastics and compared them to the grace and beauty of female gymnastics of the 50s and 60s. Different sport.
I watched a commentary from Clay Travis today where he noted that Simone Biles had recently started wearing a GOAT on the uniform she performed in...GOAT as in Greatest of All Time....
Then we are told she is under tremendous pressure to perform up to insane levels which mentally got to her.
If you are going to label yourself as the GOAT by wearing a GOAT on your uniform, then I would say you brought a lot of that pressure to perform onto yourself.....
What’s the saying...It ain’t bragging if you can back it up....
another good read
