Nancy Pelosi used to point her angry finger at Donald Trump, but she leaves him for dust when it comes to busting norms, dividing Congress and causing mayhem. If anyone is to blame for the hyper-partisanship in Washington these days, it’s the spiteful House speaker.
She behaves more like a Mafia don waging a gang war than a dignified, fair and honest presiding officer, which is what the speaker’s role requires.
Pelosi abuses her power in ways that once were unthinkable. Her speakership has been the antithesis of Lincoln’s entreaty to “the better angels of our nature.” Everyone in Congress — and by extension the nation — has been sullied by the spite and vitriol she has injected into the political sphere. There is no grace or Christian charity, just the barren wasteland of the zero-sum game, power for power’s sake.
It’s made all the worse by her increasingly frantic claims to be a “devout Catholic.”
The fact that all this venom is packaged in the shape of a small, elderly, expensively shod woman has bestowed upon her an element of deference her actions do not deserve. But last week there were a couple of signs that she’s finally worn out her welcome.
One was her game-playing over the Jan. 6 select committee, when she arbitrarily rejected two Republicans — Jim Jordan of Ohio and Jim Banks of Indiana — from an already stacked panel.
She claimed “integrity” required her veto since the two Republicans had “made statements and taken actions that I think would impact the integrity of the committee.”
Hah. This is a committee which includes such models of integrity as Adam “Steele Dossier” Schiff.
Pelosi is scared of Jordan and Banks, even though she has the majority.

The 17th Amendment put the power with the parties and lobbyists, aka the uniparty.
And the added benefits of a corrupted Judiciary, installed by an owned Senate.
If you take the time to read the period newspaper reports, on why the 17th was needed.. yellow journalism at best.. it was on par with CNN talking about Trump. It was an alinsky type situation... accuse your opponent of what you are doing...

Actually, the 17th Amendment is a mixed bag and there was a very good reason it was enacted.
I think your mixed bag was nothing more than a progressive talking point of the day.
1913 was one of the worst years in American History. Seventeenth Amendment, Federal Reserve, and graduated income tax.
Your final comment is interesting but I have always taken issue with the fact that popularly elected Senators retained a six year term, when popularly elected Representatives had but a two year term for very good reasons, and is why I consider the Seventeenth Amendment unconstitutional from the git go. They failed to change the term to two years, per the Constitution.
As I see it, the six year term was by virtue of Senators working for the various States. When in 1913 they became glorified Representatives, they deserved the same two year term limit. A definite Congressional fail. Only one of many.
I thought of putting that in there. That and gun control. I figure if it gets too wordy it loses power and People's eyes glaze over.

Excellent point. It's like a fire hose of tyranny . For every point we highlight the enemy has 100 they sneak in under the radar. They are after power and could care less about anybody else.

I’ve seen 90 year old women as thin as sticks knock the snot out of women and men 60 to 70 years younger then them in the nursing homes I’ve worked in.

During the obama years she locked out a member of congress from their office. She had the locks changed. She is a sick person. She also is behind all the turmoil this country is going thru from obmaacare onward.
I think they love the government and hate America.
