On July 16, Lori Aratani wrote a lengthy article for the Washington Post detailing the NTSB's decision to destroy the remains of TWA Flight 800, "the Paris-bound jetliner that crashed shortly after takeoff from New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport 25 years ago Saturday killing all 230 people onboard." This much Aratani got right, but that is about all.
On Monday, July 19, I started skimming the article with the expectation that Aratani was simply going to recirculate the party line of twenty or so years' standing. She did not disappoint. "The crash made headlines for years, the tragedy of the loss compounded by suspicions the plane may have been the target of a terrorist attack," Aratani wrote. "Ultimately, after a four-year investigation, the National Transportation Safety Board concluded the cause was an explosion in the plane's center fuel tank, the result of a flammable mix of fuel and air ignited by a spark."
Standard nonsense. There were, in fact, "suspicions" the plane may have been the target of a terrorist attack, but there was overwhelming evidence the 747 was the unfortunate victim of friendly missile fire. And almost no one in the aviation community, save those who were paid to say so, believed that a spontaneous explosion in the center fuel tank destroyed the aircraft.
Amid the Deep State boilerplate, one sentence jumped out. After explaining the meticulous steps the NTSB was taking to destroy all evidence, Aratani wrote, "The precautions are to avoid having pieces fall into the hands of someone who might try to profit from or exploit the crash, as happened in 1999 when a TWA pilot and his wife, a former TWA flight attendant, were convicted of stealing parts from the downed jet."

He is under a lifetime ban of speaking about what he saw.

The Washington Post (Pravda) will never contradict the Politburo narrative.
TWA 800 showed how the Deep State was already firmly entrenched back in the 1990s, fully controlling everything.
I suspect it was the same bad actors who provided the “intel” justifying the Iraq WMD story and then fed Pravda with counter-intel to undermine the Bush presidency....the same way they undermined the Trump presidency.
“FIRST STRIKE” is the best insight to what really happened.
When this tragedy occurred I was willing to believe it was an act of terrorism given the what the news of the day was but leaned towards the government “official” explanation of a fuel tank explosion because it was something I wanted to believe.
But after seeing the infestation of scumbags permeating the government (on both sides)over the past years I am convinced this explanation of a missile is entirely probable.
I have gone from someone who believed despite their differences the people in elective offices in the end cared about the people who elected them than their own personal enrichment. How very wrong I was.

Happened to be watching the TV when they interrupted the feed to announce the TWA 800 news. Shortly afterwards they ran the video clip of the missile strike and eye witness accounts. Never believed a word of what they said after that night, I knew the truth.
Without knowing much about this incident, it’s still the one “conspiracy theory” I actually believe.
I saw the missile footage multiple times on CNN the night it happened, I watched the narrative change overnight, I watched the propaganda evolve, and I never bought the Clinton Justice department narrative. Center fuel tank my ass.

I saw it as well and it seemed conclusive but I guess it was more comfortable to believe the lies.
As I said before I am ashamed of myself for both my naivety and gullibility. Never again.

I remember seeing the one time video of the streak of light upward to the plane.
I also remember seeing the elaborate “documentary” about how the fuel tank blew up.

Yes, but I’m sure they made it back on “cost overruns” on military projects.
...and reduced regulatory oversight on civilian ones (e.g., 737MAX).
Today, something like that video would go viral on Youtube within the hour. It would be saved to thousands of hard drives all over the world. It would be much harder for people to believe their BS story.
So, let me get this straight. The Navy most likely shot the plane down by mistake? Even though several vets say that all those sailors could not keep a secret like that.
