A-lister Mel Gibson called Britney Spears at her lowest point and told her God would save her, reveals her closest pal.
In 2008 the world watched on as pop princess Britney went through a devastating breakdown.
Extreme partying, reports of prescription drug abuse and violent outbursts prompted a court to hand control of her life over to her dad Jamie.
During the period of personal turmoil, a host of random names reached out to offer support, Brit's friend Sean Phillip revealed.
Speaking for the first time about Britney's most troubled years, he exclusively told The Sun: "I remember Mel Gibson was one of them, telling her that Christianity would save her and to turn back to God. It was all quite surreal.”
Britney is currently in the middle of a fierce legal battle to wrestle back control of her affairs from her father.
Fans recently listened in horror as the singer told how the arrangement was "ruining my life".
Sean, who now works in wildlife and conservation, recalled a shocking incident on New Year’s Eve 2007 in Las Vegas, when Britney’s team covered up a collapse.
It was all quite surreal.
He says that after she fainted in Pure nightclub, management tried to give her a suspected amphetamine to get her conscious and functioning again.
At the time, representatives for Britney denied the episode and claimed that she had left the club because she was “tired”.
Sean insisted: “The reality is that she was exhausted. She was being worked to the bone, and was in no fit state to still be performing.
“The medication she was on was not helping her at all. She was becoming paranoid like I’d never, ever seen her before.
“She fainted in the club at the party she was hosting.
“I had to get her out, carrying her over my shoulder with a black suit jacket thrown over her, and stopping people trying to take pictures on their phones.
“By the time we got back upstairs she was fine, but crying hysterically, and so upset. She was saying, ‘Why am I so accessible? Why am I still doing club gigs?’.
“The medication she was on was not helping her at all.
Sean Phillip “That night, management came up and were trying to give her something, in pill form, and I said, ‘No, it’s not happening’.
“She was just overwhelmed. I begged for them to let her rest.”
A few days later, Britney went on a rampage and lashed out at a photographer’s car, smacking it with an umbrella. She was descending into chaos.
Her behaviour in public became increasingly erratic, with boozy nights out with party pals including Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan.
Meanwhile, her on-stage performances were heavily criticised for being stilted and robotic. Terrifyingly, in January 2008, she was pictured being carted out of her house strapped to a wheeled stretcher.
It was reported she had taken prescription amphetamines and locked herself in the bathroom with youngest son Jayden, as she refused to hand him back to ex-husband Kevin Federline.
Within days, a court deemed her unfit to look after her own affairs, and her father was given control of her estate and all aspects of her career and life.
I assume you are now comfortably ensconced in your Mom’s basement...
Ah, but Mel is a lifelong Roman Catholic and doesn't cite the exact time he was "born again" and "saved". He was baptized as a baby, which is "not a Christian baptism" and "only results in a baby with a wet head", according to many "Christians" on here. Numerous evangelical protestant FReepers have informed me that their definition of "Christian" is someone who was "born again" at some tent revival type event and "knows the exact moment they were saved"
Catholics DO have the sacrament of Confirmation where they make a lifelong pledge to follow Jesus and accept the Holy Spirit into their lives, but somehow that doesn't count and is "unbiblical" (even though its mentioned in the Bible)
Thus, Mel is "not a Christian" in their eyes.
I’ve taken over part of the kitchen. I enjoy dishwashing machine duties.
I have no truck with Catholics
It’s thier choice
Anyone accepts Christ as their savior and walks the walk...fair enough
So you won’t try to shoot President Reagan again?
No, glad I didn’t marry Goldie Hawn
I’m prettier than her, now!
Get yourself an Instant Pot. It will keep you engaged for months.
(My husband is so enthralled with ours, I haven’t had a chance to try it...)
If I get a battery powered one, I can bring it to the Boston Marathon every year
Thank you for the ping!
“thumbs up”
Rogan salivated over Bernie IIRC. He needs to FULLY wake up.
As for Britney, if they let her control her money she’ll just use it to buy cigarettes.
Well said.

RE: Rogan. Fully woke, yes. He’s in the right track.
Don’t forget your copy of that classic Salinger novel of alienation and disaffection.
😂
Out of control, mentally challenged Brittany Spears behavior (yeah, she’s stable all right .../s). Note that her long-time housekeeper who Brittany attacked had to take one of Spear’s pets dogs to the Vets against Spear’s wishes, because she feared for the dog’s well-being; Spears neglecting pet’s needs?
Brittany has been posting pics of herself on her on-line site naked on her top half, with her hands holding her own boobs as she twists her body around and massages her boobs with her hands; rather odd, don’t you think, like she’s spiraling out of control because of her bi-polar mental disease that usually gets worse, not better, with age.
Brittany’s father took over her finances with the conservatorship when her finances were underwater and in debt and turned it into the $60 million dollar surplus it is today. Of course he gets paid money for managing all of her finances that is a considerable amount, and is as large as it is because of him, and it is no small job. He turned a dollar negative into a huge dollar positive, and for this he is vilified? Without him she would have been in a financial hole.
This father has had Brittany’s best interests at heart, and the lawyers get their cut too as no one works for free. It is a situation complicated by Brittany’s being mentally ill and remains so. Her father is trying to protect her finances in order to preserve her two sons’ inheritance, so that Brittany doesn’t run through all of her earnings while being manipulated by what would be her new master, her Muslim boyfriend who knows exactly how mentally challenged Brittany is, and wants his cut of the financial pie.
Who will profit if the conservator-ship disappears? Her Muslim boyfriend of 5 years who was her personal trainer and who lies in wait to be able to get at all that money or a big chunk of it as he takes advantage of a naive, childlike mentally ill woman by marrying her and locking in his claim to part of her fortune by getting her pregnant (she wants another kid even though she lost parental custody of the two boys she had long ago to her ex-husband who raised the boys and they know their mom isn’t stable, to say the least).
Once this Grifter gets his meat hooks deep into Brittany in more ways than one, and a kid pops out, he is set financially for life whether he stays with Brittany or divorces her at some point, which he most likely will. He has publicly stated he wants to marry Brittany and have a kid(s) with her, funny that. And he is obviously manipulating Brittany to get her father out of the picture so that he can step in to control her finances through her naivety and desire as a middle aged woman getting mentally worse (as so often happens with bi-polar people as they get older) who wants to get pregnant again and louse up the lives of tet another set of kid(s). She will of course eventually lose custody of any future kids she has with her boyfriend as she is a mentally sick woman.
As I’m sure you can ascertain, I am totally on the father’s side as he is the only one who stands between Brittany and the bad choices she will make because she is mentally incompetent and has been for years. She can function and still perform, although not for much longer as she ages, and that is the one thing she was born to do, entertain.
Brittany is very lucky that way, and is incredibly fortunate that her father parlayed her finances into a considerable fortune through a well-managed conservator-ship. The courts have so stated that the conservator-ship has been well run, and the courts also know lots of info about Brittany that the public has not been privy to as her father and the courts are subject to the Hipaa privacy laws that mental/physical info of an individual cannot be divulged to the public. That’s why the courts up until this point have sided with the father re the conservator-ship, not with Brittany, as they know all about her mental condition.
I doubt that the courts will totally remove the conservator-ship of her finances, knowing that it will be downhill for Brittany’s well-being from that point on. Unless of course the courts fall prey to the pressure of the know nothing public opinions of her on-line fans.
Personally, I have no vested interest in Brittany’s life at all, and if she takes a dive, so be it; let her ruin her own life. I have intimate experience in dealing personally and often with a bi-polar family member so I know from whence I speak. But at that point I claim told you so rights, and I feel sorry for her father who has gotten a bum rap in his attempt to keep his daughter as financially stable as possible all these years considering the complexities of her life and those who would manipulate and take advantage of her inability to handle her finances so that they in turn could take them over in order to make their own money off of her unstable self.
Who will it be looking after her, her father or her personal trainer Muslim boyfriend lurking and waiting to pounce for his cut of the pie along with a new set of lawyers, the wolves at the door waiting for their financial turn at the pot of gold. End of tome until the next chapter in the Brittany dog and pony show.
“Sounds like Mel made a call out of genuine caring for her well-being.”
Alike speaks to alike:
Gibson has acknowledged in the past that he suffers from bipolar disorder (manic-depressive illness), a mood disorder characterized by unusual or extreme shifts in mood, energy, and activity levels, ranging from periods of intense sadness and depression to manic episodes marked by hyperactive, creative, and grandiose behaviors and poor impulse control.
