Pentagon sees increased chances of nuclear conflict, newly disclosed report says

A Pentagon report secretly published in 2020 and first disclosed this week, raises the potential for some form of armed conflict between nuclear-armed powers.

The Pentagon’s “Joint Nuclear Options” report, dated April 17, 2020, was released through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request submitted by the Federation of American Scientists.

The report states, “Despite concerted US efforts to reduce the role of nuclear weapons in international affairs and to negotiate reductions in the number of nuclear weapons, since 2010 no potential adversary has reduced either the role of nuclear weapons in its national security strategy or the number of nuclear weapons it fields.”

“Rather, they have moved decidedly in the opposite direction,” the report continues. “As a result, there is an increased potential for regional conflicts involving nuclear-armed adversaries in several parts of the world and the potential for adversary nuclear escalation in crisis or conflict.”

They don’t need nukes, they have Covid 20 on the launch pads.

Oh, so that’s why so many military leaders turned against Trump. They know that Biden will roll over for any aggression by our enemies, so they feel safer with him ostensibly in charge.

Translation: We have to tax Americans more to pay the nuke nations and soon to be nuke nations to not nuke us.

“Are we adequately prepared?”

We should all wear masks, just in case.

More U.S. military diversity training clearly needed to counter the enemy threat.

Biden told the world you would need some “you need F-15s and maybe some nuclear weapons.” to take on the US government.

For 4 years now, everyone in Washington has been MORE than happy to tighten the screws on Russia (Russia! Russia!). And the Democrats can’t be nice to China, or we’re going to accuse them of being in Xi’s pocket. Are we, both sides, contributing to this? Now the DOD says we’re running behind on nukes... I’m not sure I believe that.

Yeah with Biden as president I’d say they should definitely move up the Doomsday clock.

LOL,

1. The number of nukes has not decreased since shortly after the end of the Cold War.

2. But the number of nations with nukes has increased and will increase further, with nations that are unstable like Iran (TBD), North Korea (2006), Pakistan (1998) being added to the list of nuclear powers. The list is growing.

3. While we have slowed in the development of our nuclear capabilities, others have modernized and invested heavily. We are basically using the same stuff we had when the wall came down in 1989: example https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGM-30_Minuteman

4. While not a new threat, the US and China today are on a long term collision course, and both know it but want to pretend it away (us more than them). China today is becoming more assertive in power and their nuclear arsenal as well as military capabilities have expanded massively over the last years with their threat picture being the US.

5. There are numerous “lost” nuclear weapons. No kidding, there are unaccounted nukes floating out there somewhere that somehow got lost in the post Cold War chaos that ensued (Soviet breakup, etc), lost subs, etc. Most of these are Soviet era nukes. Who knows???

The nuclear threat today is larger than it was in the Cold War because of the proliferation of these weapons and in particular the proliferation to states that are unstable. Realize, the USSR was predictable, stable, was driven by doctrine and they also built in safety systems to ensure no accident or rouge action... North Korea?

This is like a deadly medical condition where the patient is ignorant as to his condition. The masses do not “perceive” the threat but there is definitely reason for concern.

Iran is building a bomb because they plan on using it.

It’s not rocket surgery.
