For Whom The Bell Tolls: Trump Lays Waste To Republican Impeachers
libertynation.com ^ | 7/8/21 | Tim Donner

In the latest revealing turn of events, upstart Jackson Lahmeyer, the MAGA-friendly challenger to Oklahoma GOP Senator James Lankford, was endorsed this week by the state’s party chairman, John Bennett. Lankford, a moderate who offered only the most tepid support for Trump, was stunned, telling Tulsa World it is “highly unusual for a state party chair in any state in America to come out and say, ‘I’m not going to at least be neutral.’” While this may seem a minor development, it speaks volumes about the unambiguous preferences of the party base. And major media, far from minimizing this defining GOP storyline, is willingly advancing the narrative, perhaps hoping for one more swing at the Trump pinata – and a shot of adrenaline for their incredible shrinking consumer base.

As left-leaning Bloomberg News termed it, “grassroots party members have shunned those who haven’t shown fealty to the defeated ex-president.” Equally liberal Newsweek echoed the same sentiment: “Even out of office, Trump retains control of the Republican Party, and the future is doomed in the GOP for anyone who vigorously opposes the 45th president.” Former GOP Rep. Joe Walsh put it another way: “If any of the 10 [targeted incumbents] are up against a primary challenger who’s a Trumper and who can breathe, walk and talk at the same time, they’re gonna lose.” As for likely results, Dave Wasserman of the famed Cook Political Report sets the bar: “Overall, I’d be surprised if more than three of the 10 are still in Congress in 2023.”

I love this article. Thanks for posting.

I want to see the anti-Trumpers destroyed (politically). They betrayed their constituents and have aided the Democrats.

Lankford seems like a nice guy but is a horrible senator. Weak as water.

There is no justification for voting for impeachment. None. I wish every one of those cowards the worst.

3 out of 10? Why so many?

In some districts a hard-core Republican would not win. Think tactical. For now we need as many Republicans, regardless to temperature, in office to boot Pelosi from the Speaker.

The first impeachment was sham, the idea that Trump held up Ukraine aid was absurd.

The second was phoney as well, Trump DISCOURAGED violence, and anyone that voted for that impeachment was voting against the facts.

Those that voted for impeachment in both cases were dishonest and unethical.

What’s really surprising is a guy like Lankford being elected in Oklahoma. There’s no need for a Susan Collins clone being a senator from the heartland. He can’t even use the Cornyn excuse of needing to pander to the Mexicans.

His little passive act went over the edge when he stepped on Superman’s cape. That woke everyone up. So he shouldn’t be surprised at the reaction.

They successfully repudiated Reagan after he was out of office because (1) Reagan was reluctant to ever fight publicly with other republicans and (2) Reagan disappeared from public life due to his health.

They've thought they could do it with Trump too. Trump doesn't mind fighting with other republicans and he's not going anywhere. The GOPe needs a new playbook if they want to push Trump aside like they did Reagan.

Wrong answer. Doesn’t matter if Liz has an R she needs to go. Even R loses a seat then so be it. No need to give up the seat but to get rid of certain people losing the seat isn’t the biggest problem

By the way, I have been a registered independent since the 90s in part because I hated the way the GOP immediately distanced themselves from Reagan and overturned his key programs (tax cuts, for example). I voted for them because ‘lesser of two evils’ (sometimes even that is debatable ... Romney and McCain) but the way they are treating Trump has only solidified my position that they are not MY party, our relationship is a distant one of convenience only.

I disagree. RINOs and moderates suppress the vote. They demoralize Republican voters. They dampen the enthusiasm of passionate conservatives. Reagan and Trump proved that voters will vote in overwhelming numbers if they have someone to vote for instead of voting for the lesser of two evils.

Our country is in the mess we’re in because of RINOs and moderates. They need to be defeated in order to allow a more conservative candidate. And, yes, that includes defeating the RINOs in the general election. Better to have a Democrat for 2 or 6 years than a RINO for 30 years.

Lankford is a traitor and a liar. He won by pretending to be conservative. He is a Swamp thing who likes his mug on TV.

Never forget:
Last summer, in the midst of of the statues being torn down, it was Lankford who proposed replacing Columbus Day with Juneteenth.
This RINO will immediately sell out Oklahomans, if he is re-elected. Get rid of him in the primaries. Oklahomans can set a great example for the rest of the country by doing this.

How has that strategy been working out for you? If we keep doing what you advocate and let traitors who hate us lead us then we are destined for federally mandated gay rape sessions.

They still don’t get it. They think it’s about Trump. What they won’t admit is that it is about America and Americans first. Trump is just the vehicle to trumpet that position. They hate that we won’t capitulate to be ruled by them, but demand our constitutional rights.
