When I was investigating the historicity and science behind the claims of Jesus, I didn’t realize that christianity is populated by a lot of jerks who make it difficult to simply discuss the verified evidence.

The Jews didn’t write Genesis. Moses did. Just like us today, they simply read his account.

Philsworld: There was no death before the fall of Adam and Eve (Romans 5:12). And Preachin’ is correct that the “Jews” didn’t write Genesis.....Moses did, and he got it directly from God. And even if SOME Jews don’t believe in the literal 6 days of creation, so what? They don’t believe that Jesus Christ is the Messiah either (most of them are Jew in name only and are otherwise nonreligious).
And those Jews that don’t believe that God created the earth in 6 literal days... I guarantee they do NOT keep the 7th-day-Sabbath commandment because that’s EXACTLY why God commanded us to keep it...as a memorial to Him as our Creator.

You’ve never read the bible.
Even if the “handbreath” measure were relevant, it would still require interpretation, as well as other assumptions regarding facts not in evidence.
It’s all figurative. The message is clear and joyous, but it’s not at all literal.
But you CANNOT say the Bible says pi=3.

I don't really care what you and others believe, but stop pretending you are a Christian. When Scripture tells you something, why would someone say I believe this but don't believe that? You can see where that has got us today. God condemned sodomy and then destroyed 5 cities and even promises in the NT that they won't be saved and we have churches performing gay marriages and the pew sitters agreeing with it because God must have been lying when He called it an abomination and killed everyone in 5 cities. You can even go to Israel south of the Dead Sea and set a match to the dirt and it still burns. They are still digging up bones and pottery of people burned to death and people say Sodom and Gomorrah was a myth. There is absolutely no evidence of species to species evolution yet people look at a drawing of an ape turning into a man and believe it. There are no interim fossil evidence of anything changing into another species.
The Geologic column is the same thing. It was drawn a couple hundred years ago to explain why these bones were found in a certain rock layer and another set of bones were found in this rock layer 10 feet deeper so it must be older. The truth is seen every day where a T Rex bone is laying on the surface while another is 20 feet deep. All of this stuff is just a method of introducing doubt to a believers mind that Scripture may not be totally true. If you can believe it took millions of years do do what Scripture says took 6 days, you will start to doubt that Jesus even rose from the dead. If Jesus didn't rise from the dead, what is Christianity for? Jesus died in His own sin and can't be a sacrifice for us. If Jesus lied, there is no religion of salvation.
If you don't believe the Bible, I can't help you. I just repeat what I read in Scripture. If you can't have faith, you can't be saved because we are saved by faith. The Holy Spirit tells me the Bible is true. If you don't have the Holy Spirit, you aren't saved. Stop taking the Lord's name in vain. We will marry Jesus and we've take His name of Christian. Saying you are a Christian but believe He lied to you is adultery. My wife took my name, but if she goes night clubbing with other men, why would she be called Mrs Chuckles?
What Jesus said to the Apostles was not all written down, but I can assure you that nothing He said or did changed one jot or tittle in the Torah especially Genesis. They just didn't list every miracle He did.
God wrote Genesis, Moses penned what God told Him to write, so you are actually saying God lied. If Moses had misrepresented what God told him to write, Moses would have been killed for that. He was kept out of Canaan until he died because he misquoted what God told him about "striking" the rock a second time. After Jesus was struck once, we are to pray to Him for "living water".
I have to wonder how many Jews you know that don't believe the Bible. There are atheist Jews as well as Gentiles.
