Looters were captured on video Monday ransacking a Neiman Marcus in San Francisco as thefts continue to plague businesses in the area.
At least nine suspects smashed display cases, snatched handbags, and jetted out of the building before law enforcement arrived to the scene at about 6 p.m., according to footage. The suspects were seen running out of the store with their hands full of merchandise before entering an apparent getaway car that sped off down a busy intersection.
A man was caught on video in June filling a garbage bag with what appeared to be hair products before leaving the drugstore on his bicycle. A security guard, who was recording the incident, tried to grab the individual, though he eluded custody.
Walgreens shuttered 17 of its stores in the San Francisco area in the past five years, and the company said thefts in the area are four times more likely than anywhere else in the country as executives budgeted 35 times more for security personnel to guard the chains.
Target executives in the city also decided to limit business hours in response to an uptick in larceny.
Shoppers can no longer buy products in the chains after 6 p.m. after once being permitted to shop until 10 p.m.
"For more than a month, we’ve been experiencing a significant and alarming rise in theft and security incidents at our San Francisco stores," a spokesperson for Target said at the time.
San Francisco Police Lt. Tracy McCray faulted District Attorney Chesa Boudin's "criminals first agenda" for the uptick in theft incidents.
"What happened in that Walgreens has been going on in the city for quite a while," she said in June. "I’m used to it. I mean, we could have a greatest hits compilation of people just walking in and cleaning out the store shelves and security guards, the people who work there, just standing by helplessly because they can’t do anything."
"The 'criminals first' agenda from the district attorney [is to blame] because he's not prosecuting any of those crimes as felonies [or] as a commercial burglary. [Criminals realize,] 'This is gonna get slapped down to a misdemeanor,'" she continued.
Thefts under $950 are considered a misdemeanor in McCray's area of operation, she added, and suspected criminals are often issued citations instead of spending time in jail ahead of their court date. In some cases, she said, thieves will have their case thrown out if they skip their court appearances.
Neither the San Francisco Police Department nor Neiman Marcus immediately responded to requests for comment from the Washington Examiner.
Today’s map is obsolete tomorrow.
Telling the feds to MTOB doesn’t help the problem of overcrowding in prisons and passing stupid laws like the $950 law is even more stupid. I think you take non-violent offenders, put them in “tent camps” like Joe Arpaio did in AZ, and you take them out every day dressed in pink coveralls as a chain gang and have them clean the human feces off the city streets, pick up used needles from the gutters, and throw buckets of cold water on people passed out in doorways. Keep the hardened criminals in the real prisons.
And who is f$nding DA elections across the land?
187 was passed in 1994. Are the voters taking a 30-year nap or did they just say, “Oh, what the hell. Let ‘em all come in.”
Joe Arpaio did a fantastic job. But he wasn’t rewarded for that, was he?
Victor Davis Hanson did an excellent podcast discussing real leaders who made great successes and achievements, but the people didn’t like the methods they used to get those achievements. People like Patton, Curtis, and LeMay. Even Churchill.
Arpaio was in a similar mold — fantastic success, but the people eventually turned their back on his methods.
It is most unfortunate.
Looting? Oh no.
“They’re just getting something they probably need.”

If the business is an upscale business, and they want to service the high end buyer, they will protect their property using extreme security measures, entry to only the exclusive via agreed upon a dna match , or facial and finger print recognition.
The buyer will feel very 'special' knowing that the 'rifraf' will be kept out using "border guards".
Would you like to walk into a say, Walmart, knowing that while you are armed, many known criminals, are being prevented from entry because of some exclusion technique that keeps known felons, shoplifters and rapists out?
The idea can be scary, but being shot in the head can be worse.
Democrats/Marxists DESTROY everything they touch.
The cop is standing across the street videoing the action....Just standing there...wow
Looken sharp California.
Yes, they did turn their backs on him because a bunch of liberals said we need to treat prisoners kindly. What a bunch of crap. You break the law, you should pay, and that’s what Joe did. Good thing I don’t run the border control. First offense: tattoo a big “I” on their forehead, easily visible in a sniper scope. If they are caught a second time, into a Joe-style camp for X(?) months and add a “J” (jailed) to the tattoo. See an IJ trying to get into the US and they just became a target. Only after you show illegals you mean business will this border bullshit stop.
Amen
We are witness to the disintegration of cities as a result of purging civilized custom by pandering to the black riff raff that allows control of the City States.
If the black vote is diminished, the control of the City States by the leftist enemies of America, the control of the federal government is lost.
Well, the point is there’s really no point in voting in California anymore. The Democrat party imported enough voters to completely control the state.
They control every major city. They have supermajorities in both the state senate and assembly. They occupy every single state constitutional office.
My point is, we, the voters tried. We won. And it didn’t matter. The Democrat machine, aided by the traitors in the GOPe (suspect No. 1 being G.W.B.) stole that victory and got their imported voters anyway. Demography is destiny.
For California, the time for voting is long gone.
Looters. Joggers. Teens. Youth.
“Insurance companies will stop covering retail stores”
I suspect manufacturers coverage shrinkage in exchange for product placement.
I.e. - Put the stuff out so customers can see and buy it and we’ll cover any shoplifting losses.
A simpler method is to just close storefronts and operate on a delivery basis only.
Get the law changed!!!!!!!!!!
I’m trying to figure out how an armload of anything from N-M adds up to less than $950.
LOL! Too true. I guess their new math definition of $950 is somewhat flexible.
The cops just don’t want to have to go after these thugs and actually do something like…gasp!..arrest them. And the City doesn’t want them to.
I think stores and street life will completely shut down soon in SF, the way they do in any war zone.
I've watched videos that tell of shoplifters selling stolen items two blocks away from Walgreens on Market Street in SF, at a 50 percent discount, and nothing is done to arrest them. Also watched videos of shops in London where they actively catch and prosecute shoplifters, active enforcement stops theft. Shoplifters can stuff $5,000 worth of cosmetics into a carry bag, way more than the $950 misdemeanor limit, and they're getting away with it in California - lax enforcement.
