Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, tells Newsmax he's "considering" another run for the White House in 2024, but he'd be happy seeking another term representing Texas in the U.S. Senate as well.
Appearing Thursday on "The Chris Salcedo Show," Cruz told guest host Tom Basile he was "just considering it, just thinking about it," when asked about his 2024 plans.
Former President Donald Trump has yet to announce whether he will seek reelection after his 2020 loss to Democrat Joe Biden. A move by Trump to reclaim the Oval Office would certainly make the still popular former commander-in-chief the strong front-runner and force most serious candidates such as Cruz to sit out another four years.
But Cruz said his 2016 bid for the GOP presidential nomination, in which he was the last candidate standing against Trump, was "the most fun I've ever had in my life."
"We came incredibly close," he said. "Had an incredible grassroots army of 326,000 volunteers nationwide. And so whether it is in the Senate, or whether it is in a presidential campaign, I am committed to fighting to defend free enterprise, to defend freedom and defend the Constitution and Bill of Rights."

He did until he started to visualize that he could become President. Classmates & acquaintances have quoted him as saying natural born citizenship is a requirement to be P/VP. Then there was a sea change.
Ted didn’t even tell Texans he was a Canadian citizen until after he was elected Senator, one of many misrepresentations during his Senate campaign. He only gave up his Canadian citizenship a few years ago.
“Jun 11, 2014Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) has officially renounced his Canadian citizenship, it was announced yesterday.”
Exactly
Cruz certainly thinks he’s divinely placed. His father made that abundantly clear.
Dear God no. Maybe his beloved Mexico he vacations at. Trump or DeSantis only.
I'd like him on the Supreme Court.
Ted, I like you, but you’re not presidential caliber. (Not that anybody but Trump who has been elected president since 1984 has been presidential caliber.)
1. DeSantis
2. Trump, but only because of his age, otherwise heβd be 1.
3. Rand Paul. Voted for his father twice.
4. Cruz. My first choice in 2016, but when I entered the polling both I thought βwho can beat Hilla the Hun?β Voted Trump.
Liz Cheny comes is 8.5 billionth place.
So far, Ron DeSantis.

Ditto.
“What will you do if he becomes the nominee?” A non-sequitur. Cruz has less chance of that happening as you or I. He’s wholly unlikable. Totally lacking in any charisma. And, he has no constituency.
Bushy’s hate him and Trump voters would not consider him. Some Pubbies might but, President Trump’s constituency goes far beyond that. President Trump brings Blue Dog Dems, Independents, and a few anti-establishment Bernie supporters with him as well.
No Career Politician can even hope in their wildest dreams to bring such a diverse array of Americans to the table.
This is why the DC Establishment pulled out all the stops to defraud the man from a second term.
Their miscalculation is, Donald Trump is a FIGHTER. The greater the opposition the greater his determination. The man does not back down from a fight. He embrases it.
One of them has to leave Florida. Ya can't have a pres or vp from the same state.
Its been done before.
Its a pebble masquerading as hurdle.
One of them will file in a separate state before 2024.
Cubanadians are not natural born citizens of the USA.
Ded on arrival Ted
I don’t want anyone on the court who thinks Anwar al-Awlaki’s kids, born in Yemen to one citizen parent, are natural born citizens eligible to be President.
If he is, they are.
That’s the thing the potential usurpers in the GOP did not consider before they made the deal with the devil on Obama, the Democrats may elect ineligible people but the GOP never will, too many of us know what natural born citizen means and will not vote for ineligible candidates.
ted cruz would be a dream GOP presidential candidate in 2024 ... a dream for the Democrats that is ...
Nope, but too many Freepers don't care about our Constitution anymore. They've surrendered.
I doubt if many of his former followers will support hjm.
