Howdy, Kathy.

I hope you’ve been the beneficiary of some of the rain up there today.

Your Life’s Passion

Bible in a Year:

The love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. . . . Flee from all this, and pursue righteousness.

1 Timothy 6:10–11

One evening years ago, my wife and I were making our way down a mountain trail, accompanied by two friends. The trail was narrow and wound around a slope with a steep drop on one side and an unclimbable bank on the other.

As we came around a bend, I saw a large bear moseying along, swinging his head from side to side, and quietly huffing. We were downwind, and he hadn’t detected our presence, but he would soon.

Our friend began to rummage around in her jacket for a camera. “Oh, I must take a picture!” she said. I, being less comfortable with our odds, said, “No, we must get out of here.” So we backed up quietly until we were out of sight—and ran.

That’s how we should feel about the dangerous passion to get rich. There’s nothing wrong with money; it’s just a medium of exchange. But those who desire to get rich “fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction,” Paul wrote (1 Timothy 6:9). Wealth is only a goad to get more.

Instead, we should “pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness” (v. 11). These traits grow in us as we pursue them and ask God to form them within us. This is how we secure the deep satisfaction we seek in God.

Reflect & Pray

What’s your passion in life? How might you pursue traits that will make you more like Jesus?

God, I want to grow to become more Christlike. Help me cooperate with what You’re trying to teach me.

Hey radu!

It is definitely HOT here, (110 now), hotter tomorrow and then an eventual 'cool down' towards the 90's in the next week or so.

I've got the A/C roaring but the inside temp is a bit higher than usual.

'Sup your way?

I’ve heard a little on the news about your horrendous temps and what’s ahead for y’all. After this, temps in the 90s will feel good.
I hope your A/C unit is in tip-top shape so it won’t conk out in the middle of all of this. You don’t need that!!!

Not much going on here. Had to run a couple of errands this afternoon. It isn’t as hot here as it is there but it’s plenty hot, plus the air is thick with humidity. We didn’t get any rain here but there were showers close by and it made the air really wet.

Tomorrow we’re supposed to get rain from TS Danny so maybe it won’t be so hot. Just wet, and we need some rain.

Howdy, luvie.

Glad you’re still getting to enjoy some cooler temps.

They still say we have a front coming through Thursday to cool us off for the weekend. Two more hot, steamy days to go.

Hey there, radu!

It was lovely today. 78 was the high. It’s also raining again. Yay!

I sure hope your cooler temps arrive early rather than late. It’s time to cool the steam! It’s very humid here, too. Probably in the 80s....even though it’s raining. LOL! Not complaining, though. The rain is the thing...and I hope you get some, too. Will you get anything from Danny?

Pretty much cloudless 90˚+ sunshine with just an occasional breeze.

Wish TS Danny would bring us a soaking rain but not likely...just the opposite...might push the unstable air farther north.
