That was 41 years ago. He remarried, and the man who once described himself as an agnostic, became a Jehovah Witness, and stopped any contact he had with his two sons. It's been 20+ years since they last heard anything from him. They are the only kids he ever had. In a way it was a lot easier without him being involved in their lives, because he was such an asshole. I never married again after my divorce in '79, and have had a wonderful life as a single Mom with two great kids. I never would have been able to accomplish all the things I've been able to, if I'd stayed with the moron. I've always said, it's better to live alone and be happy, than live with someone and be totally miserable.
Good for you. And your kids. Not gonna even go into the whole jehova witness stuff because I don’t agree with it but won’t or try not to judge people. My first wife had 2 kids from her 1st marriage. We were together for 12 years and she found someone she liked better than me. Left her 2 kids behind. She left her son with me and said she took her daughter and moved from Florida to Massachusetts but lied to me and left her (my) 15 year old living with her boyfriend and his family about 10 miles from me. Her (my) son knew about it and kept up the lie for about 6 months until her (my) daughter couldn’t continue the lie and showed up at my door crying and missing her dad (proudly to say me). I was really pissed. I mean super pissed. She made these kids lie to me so she could have her own party life and was afraid I would call HRS and want custody of my girl. In the end they both left and moved where she was for a short period and the boy started a family and started a relationship with his biological dad. But my little girl moved back close to me and started a family. Got a happy Father’s Day from her and melted my heart. Got remarried about 15 years ago and she gets along great with my daughter. I feel blessed. Sometimes you are better off without someone.

We have all been through the wringer. Including yourself. Kids grow up and they see things and remember. The blessing is that you have a great relationship with your kids. Keep your heart open because you never know when the right one comes along.

Wow.. people find loop holes and take advantage of the system. You see people all the time living on food stamps driving new cars that I would love to have. My wife had a job that paid REAL GOOD. She got in a car accident by hitting a deer. By the way you can’t sue a deer. We have lost all that income and we have to use the system. No stamps. I still work and we are making our way but things happen in a instant and when it does the system is meant to pick up slack. Some live off of it and they know what they can get and hire lawyers that can get them more.
Beau makes way too much money between his pension and SS to get any ‘Uncle Sugar’ Money, either. He’s p*ssed, too!
