Actor Chadwick Boseman died last year at the age of 43 from stage 4 colon cancer. The “Black Panther” star represents a troubling trend of men younger than 49 who are at an unusually high risk of dying from colorectal cancer. According to a study published in the American Journal of Cancer Research, despite the overall reduction in the cases of colorectal cancer in America, there are geographical “hot spots” where cases of this potentially deadly cancer are soaring.
June is National Men’s Health Month and it is critical that American men pay attention to their risk factors for developing cancer. This is especially important for men who live in, or grew up in, the areas identified as hot spots for colorectal cancer.
According to STAT, Black men in these areas are more likely to be diagnosed with advanced stages of colorectal cancer and are also more likely to die from it than white men. According to the study, there are 232 counties in the U.S. where men ages 20 to 49 are at increased risk of developing colorectal cancer, including Anderson County, South Carolina, where Boseman grew up.
Since the 1990’s, the rate of colorectal cancer has declined for people age 50 and older but has more than doubled among younger American adults. A recent study predicted that colorectal cancer will be the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in people ages 20 to 49 by the year 2030, says STAT.
Experts are baffled.
“We don’t know where this is coming from,” said Dr. Charles Rogers, assistant professor in the Public Health Division of the University of Utah School of Medicine whose specialty is addressing the racial inequalities in healthcare and who was the lead author in the hot spots study.

The gender-deranged probably have a higher rate of it because... you know.
My wife had a colonoscopy about a month ago. He said the secret to avoiding colorectal cancer is to avoid bread and sugar.
Processed foods. Fried foods. Ingredients you can’t pronounce without a dictionary. That’s why there’s cases more now days.
Oh well... such is life.
Eat healthy, exercise, stay away from Antifa and lefties, vote conservative.
People die every day from a myriad of disease, accidents, and illnesses... and of course natural causes and old age.
Life is never guaranteed... only the ramifications are, from the choices you make while going through life. Don’t make stupid choices or gamble with your health. You just might live longer.
And remember... Life is what you make from it, not what you make of it.
Makes sense, yer butt is a one way street, violate the rules of the road pay the price.

The question should be how many are homosexuals??
I’ve been on a low carb regimen (50g or less a day) for several months. Aside from losing 50 lbs it stopped and reversed my slow increase in A1c and feel great.
Last colonoscopy A-OK
Don’t they keep pushing up the age to begin getting screened?
If they aren’t diagnosed they stand a greater chance of dying.
I've lost 20 pounds (low carbs) in the last two months and my A1C went from 7.8 to 6.2.
I’m curious as to how many homosexuals are included in the stats or if they even check that.
Some day aliens are going to learn about anesthesia and there will go years of campfire stories.
If diagnosed at a young age, it’s all about genetics.
It doesn’t matter how much that person exercises or eats right.
The people I knew who died young from cancer, including colon cancer, in their 30’s and 40’s were in good physical shape (except for the cancer).
I’ve heard cancer cases are increasing among younger people because of how they carry their cell phones. Girls stuff them in their bras and get breast cancer, or people carry them in their back pockets, which is close to, well, you know.
Easy to figure out. After the AIDS pandemic of the early 90’s people stopped anal sex. But since then younger generations have not been so afraid. Those counties are high in gay men. I bet Miami beach is right up there in the top 5.
Oh gee. Medical authorities are stumped yet again. What a surprise.
