The mayor of a small town in Colorado unilaterally removed the Pledge of Allegiance from the town board's agenda for all future meetings, claiming the move was required because of the divisiveness it creates.

Just so everyone is aware. Silverton is a town of 663 people in the middle of nowhere in Colorado.

The County as a whole only has 728 people and it votes 60% Democrat.

This guy's well behind the times. I grew up in a town that bordered Brookline,Massachusetts...which is where the Tank Commander,Mike Dukakis,got his start in politics. He was,to be precise,the president of Brookline’s Town Council (or whatever it was called). As President he declared that the Pledge of Allegiance would not be recited. I can't recall if he gave a reason....but knowing him we don't need that to be spelled out for us.
