DRAPER, Utah (KUTV) — Utah Sen. Mitt Romney announced he and Sen. Mark Kelly, D-Arizona, are proposing legislation to establish a national wildfire commission, but in response to a question from 2News, acknowledged he can “never guarantee that a government commission will work.”

America needs LESS government. Not more.
More stupid bureaucracy. There is no reason to mess with States that ARE handling their fire problems just because Kalifornia is run by idiots.
A commission? Hell no. Blue ribbon committees are where it’s at. (snarky sarcasm)
Government commissions are almost guaranteed not to work.
Go away, Mitt.
Romney, Grahamnesty, Cornyn, Tillis, Hoeven, and the rest of the TransRepublicans are much more useful to the left with their R jerseys on than they would be if they took them off.
Restart CCC camps. It’s the perfect time. My dad and his brother loved it. From Upstate NY, the boys got to go to Montana.
The expert on healthcare is now an expert on wildfires.
At this point don’t we know how to prevent wildfires ? Just that states don’t want to bother doing it
So much for states playing their role in this Republic, Mittens. How about giving federal lands to the states, including national forests and parks? Let the states manage them. If California wants to burn down, let them. Don’t make me pay for it. If Utah wants to permanently flood Byrce Canyon, great. Don’t make me pay for it. But if state maintains and manages public lands as destination, and I like want to go there, make me pay the state for it.

After retiring from the airlines I spent two summers working wildland fires. Great. Loved it! And in all that time in Colorado, Wyoming, and Idaho I saw ONE black kid. One. There’s something in the world other than $200 tennis shoes. Honest.
Mitt wants to be Fire Czar.
He probably just wants to wear the hat. We used to hand things like this out to little kids who came to tour the firehouse on field trips.
We used to have a thing called the “logging industry” in this country. Maybe we should look at bringing back the “logging industry”.
Comments from citizens during two summers of working wildfires:
1/ “I know our house is not ‘Fire Wise’ compliant, but we just loooooove the trees.”
2/ “No sweat - if the place burns down we have insurance - it’ll pay out like a slot machine.”
3/When shown what property in their area looked like 150 years ago (a few large trees with grassy meadows underneath vs. wall to wall toothpick trees)”But we can’t bear to cut down any living thing.”
You reap what you sow.
Of course it won’t work. Government “workers” at every level don’t do real work; they just show up to collect a paycheck.
Will they publicly discuss the cases of arson that lead to some of these wildfires?
the two will hire a few arsonists to make certain it works
IF enuf money and power are given to them.
did they know of the guillotines sitting in each
of their states? when? what did they do then?
