Residents in one Chicago ward are “giving up” on calling the police as the city fails to protect them from violent crime, according to one city council member.
Alderman Raymond Lopez described the violence plaguing his constituents in the city’s 15th Ward and beyond, slamming Democratic Mayor Lori Lightfoot, whose law enforcement policies and focus on systemic racism, he said, are doing little to stop the mostly gang-related violence.
“Generational gang life isn’t just something that’s encouraged. It’s almost revered in some neighborhoods,” Lopez, whose constituents are about 67% Latino and 22% black, told the Washington Examiner in an interview. “If you really want to get to what is at the heart of a lot of this, it is gangs, and it is the borderline collapse of the family unit in many of our neighborhoods ... [Lightfoot] has avoided calling out gangs in our community as a source of violence in our city.”

This can't come as a surprise to anyone in Chicago. Yet, BLM thinks defunding the police is a good idea and BugEyes is going along with it. If the blacks in Chicago are paying attention and they want their neighborhoods back, her policies aren't the answer and it's up to you to do something about it at the ballot box. No one else can help you if you won't help yourself.

I seem to recall that it was a Detroit police chief that said that virtually all the crime comes down to about 8,000 people in the entire greater Detroit area.
Think about that. A relatively small group of habitual criminals are keeping a much larger number of people in fear, their crimes are justly and correctly driving away investment which means they are also helping to keep their families and neighbors in relative poverty, on top of that and hopelessness it adds to they are drawing future generations into shortened lives of crime after them ... destroying future potential along with the present.
This is why I keep saying that if every last gang banger or any race died one fine day the lot of a great many Americans, notably the gang’s former neighbors those who all would need to have their alibis in order and would swear they didn’t hear or see anything (the government cannot do this), would see their lives and prospects greatly improve as crime rates collapsed, particularly violent crime rates. People would no longer be living in fear, their children no longer be turned into soldiers for the gangs or poisoned with narcotics to help gang finance, and without the violent habitual criminals local commerce could resume unhindered and prosperity start to return.
But of course all that highlights why the Revolution minded Left may want the gangs to remain. They want people to be angry and unhappy because that’s the sort of people who will listen to them the most.
