Alina Chan isn't saying the coronavirus definitely leaked from a lab in China. What she is saying is what more scientists have grown comfortable discussing publicly: There's no clear evidence either way.
"I know a lot of people want to have a smoking gun," said Chan, a postdoctoral associate at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard University who specializes in genetic engineering and has been vocal about the need to investigate the possibility of a lab leak. "It's more like breadcrumbs everywhere, and they're not always leading in one direction. It's like the whole floor is covered in breadcrumbs."
Chan was one of 18 scientists who published a letter in the journal Science last month calling for a more in-depth investigation into the virus's origin that takes into account theories about both natural occurrence and laboratory spillovers. The letter helped kick-start a new round of calls to investigate the "lab leak hypothesis," including demands from President Joe Biden and several leading scientists.

There’s no way to “scientifically prove” it, unless the Wuhan lab opens its books and its researchers, which will never happen.
But if this were a court of law, there’s already more than enough forensic, circumstantial, hearsay, statistical evidence to prove guilt.
Nothing to see here folks. That bat corona virus (strictly from nature) traveled 1000 miles with NO victims along the way and mysteriously struck here near the lab. Do NOT ask about the previous scientists who either died or disappeared who worked here in the lab before. So, nothing to see. Go back to sleep.

What’s changed is - some of them have started lying slightly less than before.
No evidence? We have the absolute worst journalists in America. This is what happens when you hire 23 year old graduates and pay them by the word. They don’t do any ‘homework’ or research they just write. Often, just write what they are told or what they think might get them promoted to another 1 cent per word.
Here’s evidence: A handful of workers from the Wuhan Lab were admitted to the Wuhan Hospital contagious disease ward in early November of 2019 with unknown infection and uncontrollable flu like symptoms.
Here’s more evidence: The Chinese Communist Government sent a high ranking military officer to commandeer the facility, who specializes in chemical warfare.
No evidence? Only to people who don’t want to look for it.
The Chinese are home free. They know we’re too conflicted and too weak to do anything to force them to come clean.

That is why the US .gov will never come clean.

Would the scientists who are comfortable in discussing this be Chinese agents?
When people, especially liberals in cases like this one, say “Follow the science “ or “Scientists say…” they reveal two things about themselves.
First, they are demonstrating that they know very little about “science”. They don’t understand the technicalities (even the most superficial scientific facts) or principles (e.g. Scientific Method) In their ignorance they yield to people who claim to be scientists (including doctors) - especially when they reflect their own world view (e.g. “Orange is bad”).
“World View” introduces my second point. These people (many of them) have turned away from the Creator and Maintainer (of everything). They have EXCHANGED God for “science” -

That said, it is conceivable that data could turn up without an audit, but unlikely.
If you didn’t know that China bought out much of NBC, it’d be obvious from their reporting.

CCPvirus is not found in nature. With SARS, a source in nature was found in about one month. CCPvirus has no source in nature.
CCPvirus was found in close proximity to a CCP bio weapons lab.
Use Occam’s Razor, the simplest explanation is generally correct. The CCPvirus, which is not found in nature, was created in the bio-weapons lab in Wuhan where the disease was first found in humans.
One second if you attend church you are killing Grandma. The next second if you think that wall-to-wall rioters are a problem, you’re a racist.
One second our federal elections are Russian-fraudulent. The next second if you doubt the elections you are a white supremacist.
One second if you suspect that Covid comes from the bioweapons lab near its origins, you are a racist. The next second your accusers are committing a limited hangout.
