There was no leak. The virus was distributed by the PLA purposefully as an attack against the whole world, but especially the West.
Why would the CCP kill their own people? What is the one commodity that China has in abundance and would be glad to be rid of?

Especially now, when recent years have had big outbreaks of swine flu and avian flu knock out huge chunks of their pork/chicken production. Floods in the SE growing areas and along the river, with drought in the northern/NW areas have dropped their agricultural production quite a bit as well.
