Mayor Lori Lightfoot (D) pushed for more federal gun control Tuesday as Chicago gun violence surges and firearm-related homicides continue to increase.
Breitbart News reported eight people were shot inside a residence Tuesday, leaving four dead and four wounded while 43 people were shot over the weekend in Chicago and 55 were shot the previous weekend in the city.

But putting criminals in jail is racist.
Just ask her.
L
Idiot. It’s the bad people doing the shooting. They aren’t going to bring you the guns. People buying guns want them to protect themselves and family from the bad people.
Why doesn’t she demand the city council pass a law against shooting people?
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over and hoping for different results “next time”.
Dang when I lived there it was violent but this is a new echelon of crazy
Guess she is too busy doing her wife to Do anything else
So glad I moved outta there in 1983, S Hole now and the crazy thing is .... People there seem to accept it and dare I say like it
Ask Crimesha, her woke DA.
BEETLEJUICE! ... BEETLEJUICE! ... BEETLEJUICE! ... ...............................
How many in glorious Chi-raq have been put in prison for gun crimes?
zeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee-roh
Meanwhile, in northern New England (VT, ME, and NH) and the Dakotas, Montana, Idaho, many parts of Texas and Tennessee, and many other areas with little or no gun control and almost everyone with a gun, little or no criminal or tragic (suicides or accidents) misuse of firearms taking place.
She could see clearly if someone would just clean the aquarium filter.
They don't want to do anything, they simply want to APPEAR as if they re doing something.
I live in Maine.
Maine has Constitutional Carry, Open Carry, private sales of firearms, and guns are everywhere.
Yet, Maine has the lowest crime rate of any state.
Why not just pass a law that requires criminals to obey the law?
Gun control? Ain’t nobody got time for that!
It’s all about gun confiscation not the criminals but the law abiding.
Chicago already has the the toughest gun laws in the nation why don’t they enforce them? Why pass laws forbidding police from pursuing the criminal?
They've done nothing, they all know where the problem areas and gang-bangers live and hang-out.
A well organized and funded crime taskforce could clean-out that city in quick order, but that would be RACIST.
I thought she said the numbers were trending in the right direction? They already have tough gun control . . . how is adding some more tough gun control going to stop thugs from shooting thugs? BTW, I’ve always thought a dead thug was a great thug!
Oh that will end the problem......Idiot.
She is following the 1976 Handgun Contol Inc (HCI, now the Brady Center) plan to the letter. Back then they “ONLY” wanted to ban handguns. “Rifles will not be affected!”

“I’m convinced that we have to have federal legislation to build on. We’re going to have to take one step at a time, and the first step is necessarily — given the political realities — going to be very modest.
Of course, it’s true that politicians will then go home and say, ‘This is a great law. The problem is solved.’ And it’s also true that such statements will tend to defuse the gun-control issue for a time.
So then we’ll have to strengthen that law, and then again to strengthen that law, and maybe again and again. Right now, though, we’d be satisfied not with half a loaf but with a slice. Our ultimate goal — total control of handguns in the United States — is going to take time.
My estimate is from seven to ten years. The problem is to slow down the increasing number of handguns sold in this country. The second problem is to get them all registered. And the final problem is to make the possession of all handguns and all handgun ammunition — except for the military, policemen, licensed security guards, licensed sporting clubs, and licensed gun collectors —TOTALLY ILLEGAL.”

“Yes, I’m for an outright ban [on handguns].”

HCI, around 1984, made a grab for the semi-auto rifles and shotguns, and missed. Then Josh Sugarmann tuned in. This has been the mantra ever since.
“Assault weapons’ menacing looks, coupled with the public’s confusion over fully-automatic machine guns versus semi-automatic assault weapons —anything that looks like a machine gun is assumed to be a machine gun— can only increase the chance of public support for restrictions on these weapons.”
– Josh Sugarmann
I’m never sure with Democrats if they know how Government
works.
It’s always the Executive Branch, of government, in Democrat run cities, the Mayor, Police Chief and City prosecutor who
go on air and ask, “can’t somebody do something”.
Then they go on and blame an inanimate object for causing all the crime.
