Missouri Governor Mike Parson, a Republicans has signed a bill that prohibits police officers within the state from enforcing federal gun laws.

“It is our time to protect the Second Amendment,” Parson declared. “This is exactly what this bill does, and it’s time to get this thing signed and get it into law.”

Mike Brown, co-founder of Frontier Justice shooting range said, where the legislation was signed said “While some people may not spend a lot of time thinking about the Second Amendment, it’s critical to the preservation of our republic.”

Meanwhile, Democrats in Missouri were not happy about the move.

MO House minority leader, Crystal Quade, a Democrat said “House Bill 85 is a radical, dangerous and obviously unconstitutional attempt to declare that Missouri will refuse to follow federal gun laws.”

“It quite literally defunds the police and gives that taxpayer money to convicted criminals. It is long past time for Republicans in Jefferson City to stop the political grandstanding, take their jobs as leaders seriously and pass real solutions to crime in our state,” she added in her statement.

When the Feds come calling, many times they need and request the help of the locals.

I’m hoping that, somewhere in the details, this law prohibits any state, county or local LEO from providing such assistance. And, in fact, gives the county Sheriff’s the ability to run the Feds off if he/she feels the need.

Yes sir!

This is the start of states secession.

A year ago I would have voiced my opposition to such a view. After the Roberts court refused to hear the TX, and enjoining states case against PA on the election, I have changed my view.

Why is all this kind of flouting laws NOT “insurrection”?

I would’ve ARRESTED city mayors and so on for declaring “sanctuary” for illegals years ago.

Now these bastards think they can flout anything.

One by one, states are clawing back what’s rightfully theirs. I hope they pick up the pace

If a law is unconstitutional, citizens are not obligated to obey it and those who are sworn to protect and defend the constitution are not obligated to enforce it. That puts the onus onto those who made the law to prove the law is constitutional.

The police will still do it, because they’re trained to follow lawful orders.

Don’t worry, the cops will still make up and enforce imaginary gun laws at whim.

It is a very well-established Constitutional principle that the Feds cannot "commandeer" state/local law enforcement, not require their cooperation. State/local cannot actively obstruct Feds, but they don't have to lift a finger to assist Feds or even to enforce federal law.

So, his action is completely constitutional. The same applies to sanctuary cities to the extent the "sancturay" is limited to not helping ICE. But if they provide aid of any kind to illegals in violation of federal law, that can be prosecuted.

The military is also trained to not follow a “lawful order” if it violates your conscience. Most cops take a similar oath that doesn’t have an end date to uphold the Constitution. Most people don’t consider violating that oath something they can do in good conscience.

The refusal to enforce laws became enshrined through practice. So now sanctuary cities are de-facto legal. Only fair that our side do the same thing - because if they want to end gun sanctuaries, they’ll be forced to end *all* sanctuaries and they are desperate to not do that.

Why is she objecting? This is EXACTLY what her party wants!

the feds do NOT come calling, they don’t request, they don’t attempt to enlist your aid. They DEMAND! I’ve had a few personal experiences with the feds. NOT ONE that I would consider complimentary.
