A group of Republican senators wrote Attorney General Merrick Garland Monday to say January 6th rioters who are being prosecuted may be receiving 'unequal justice' – and called for similar treatment of those who clashed with police in protests sparked by the death of George Floyd last summer.
The senators did not defend the rioters who stormed the Capitol during the electoral vote count – saying they 'fully support' prosecutions of those who took part. But they called into question what they cast as a disparity and demanded information from DOJ about tactics authorities used to run down Capitol rioters, while seeking similar information on protests last summer that sometimes turned violent.
The senators asked a series of questions which appeared to put a focus on hardball police tactics.
'Did federal law enforcement utilize geolocation data from defendants’ cell phones to track protestors associated with the unrest in the spring and summer of 2020? If so, how many times and for which locations/riots?' they asked.
'How many individuals who may have committed crimes associated with protests in the spring and summer of 2020 were arrested by law enforcement using pre-dawn raids and SWAT teams?
'How many individuals were incarcerated...

DOJ’s response, ok
The democrat party is the enemy, folks. The fbi and capital police are hopelessly co-opted by leftists.
Among them were Sens. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, Tommy Tuberville of Alabama, Mike Lee of Utah, Rick Scott of Florida, and Ted Cruz of Texas.
Finally some backbone!!!!!!!! Question: Will anything happen?
That’s great! Scott is actually turning out to be a better Senator than he was Governor. He seems to have gotten more conservative. Or maybe it’s just that our government has gotten more left wing.
Definitely about time. I would like to hear Trump say something about it too.
If it’s so bad that it has given Putin the chance to do the embarrassing PR move of complaining about it as a human rights violation, Trump has every right and reason to address it.
We all know that the Jan 6 event was a DJT inspired and led terrorist action, while the BLM and Antifa gatherings were held by concerned citizens and were mostly peaceful and mostly harmless. So in that light, its only fitting that the terrorists be placed in solitary, while the concerned citizens be admonished or commended depending and then told not to do it again in very firm tones.
Another CYA letter from the do-nothing GOP. Yawn. A year late on the BLM domestic terrorists, too.
OOOOOH look voters.I wrote a letter.....
“about time someone made some noise about this”
I know! These people have been in solitary confinement for doing nothing! Nobody says anything; nobody cares. Lotsa caring for illegals in less-than-perfect living environments, but persecuting Americans who’ve done nothing is OK? This is crazy!
Yeah, that's some backbone right there. They wrote a letter months after the fact. BOLD

Schumer compares Trump’s Lincoln Memorial protection to Tiananmen Square

The Senate’s top Democrat compared the Trump administration’s use of the military to protect the Lincoln Memorial from protester damage to the 1989 Chinese government crackdown and killing of demonstrators in Tiananmen Square.
“Rows of camouflaged troops standing at attention on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, like an occupying force defending a critical position,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said in a Senate floor speech Wednesday. “When you see the image of troops dressed for combat, flanking the Lincoln Memorial, an altar to freedom, you cannot help but think of Tiananmen Square.”
President Trump ordered the D.C. National Guard to line the steps of the Lincoln Memorial after protesters vandalized the site over the weekend with black spray paint.
The presence of the troops drew sharp criticism from some who said it was unwarranted.
“I never thought I’d live to see the day when troops would be guarding the Lincoln Memorial,” Rep. Ro Khanna, a California Democrat, tweeted...
“...may be receiving ‘unequal justice’
There is no maybe about it, they are receiving unequal justice. How many of the BLM/Antifa rioters have been released without bail, had their charges completely dropped, or been giving “community service” or other diversion programs? I have never heard of any of them being subject of a SWAT team response or pre-dawn arrest.
Many are still being held without bail, in solitary, and it doesn’t appear the actual trials are close.
They need to be released on a fair bail.
I’ll bet none or only 1-2 are a flight risk.
The no bail, solitary, no trial scheduled is the punishment—and unconstitutional.
No. We will circle back to you.
DOJ files unequal justice complaint on top of Hunters lap top.
Do Republicans expect to get answers or satisfaction from the DOJ while they are laughing their a$$e$ off?
The DOJ department should be behind bars.
