Canvassers cited spelling mistakes and a lack of factual clarity in the recall petition filings.
LANSING, MI — Recall efforts against two of Michigan's top Democratic elected officials were rejected Tuesday by the Michigan Board of Canvassers, which cited clerical and spelling mistakes as well as a lack of factual clarity in the recall petition filings.
The board voted unanimously 4-0 to reject both recall efforts against Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and the state's attorney general Dana Nessel.
"It really isn't that difficult to put proper spelling and grammar in these things, and if these folks are serious about these actions, they should take the additional time to maybe have somebody take a look at this, and make sure that the spelling is correct that the grammar is correct, so that we can offer a serious decision," Republican board member Tony Daunt said at the meeting.
The recall effort for Whitmer was filed by Hannah Curley and focused on her use of executive orders. The effort against Nessel related to her charging Owosso barber Karl Manke and Marlena Pavlos-Hackney, owner of Marlena's Bistro and Pizzeria in Holland, for violating COVID-19 restrictions.
Multiple spelling errors were made in both filings, canvassers said.
"Recalling an elected official is serious business, and it should be done in a professional way," said Julie Matuzak, a Democrat and the board's vice-chair, "and we have had numerous meetings about grammatical and spelling errors."
Two recall efforts against Whitmer have been launched this year. The recall attempt discussed by the board of state canvassers Tuesday was the second to be rejected by the board; an earlier recall effort was rejected on May 14.
The governor faced 20 recall efforts in 2020, according to Ballotpedia, 10 of which were rejected by the Michigan Board of Canvassers. Another was withdrawn and nine were ended.
Three recall efforts against Nessel were launched in 2021. Two of those efforts were rejected by the Michigan Board of State Canvassers at its May 14 meeting.
In order to successfully petition for a recall, one would need to acquire 1,062,647 — or 25 percent of the votes received when elected.

What absolute Rubbish.
Unelected bureaucrats getting between voters and elected officials.
“a lack of factual clarity in the recall petition filings”
Uh, that’s for the voters to decide, not a corrupt group of gangsters set up to nullify the vote.
Spelling is racist.
Grammar is racist.
Michigan BoC is racist.
Therefore, Whitmer is racist.
This is not news.

Vice-Chair: Julie Matuzak – Democrat

It’s sort of like the Commission on Presidential Debates. All of the “Republicans” are RINOs. No real diversity of political ideology.
Republicans need to wise up and demand changes to these boards and commissions. No more sitting passively while the left controls the events.
Notice what sticklers these people are for accuracy all the sudden. During November 2020, not so much.
I doubt it.

So this is what stops people from getting honest government in Michigan?

Here is the exact recall petition language:
Governor Gretchen Whitmer continued a State of Emergency after April 30, 2020 without legislative approval. After April 30, 2020 Governor Gretchen Whitmer issued multiple Executive Orders using the Emergency Powers of the Governor Act 302 of 1945. After the October 2, 2020 Michigan Supreme Court’s Order for Docket #161917, Governor Gretchen Whitmer issued a press release stating “Governor’s Orders remain in effect at least 21 more days.”
According to Balletopedia, this is the 22ND RECALL EFFORT attempted to oust Whitmer.
Talk about the Gang that Couldn't Shoot Straight...
The bitches have their own political Praetorian Guard that laughs at and mocks the people. There is a special place in Hell for these scum tyrant guvholes that are responsible for murdering half of the COVID dead.

Reminds me of Jim Crow Southern Democraps, who required black folk to pass a literacy test to vote. And imagine the outcry if an employer refused to hire a person because they "don't know no difference between 'I am' and 'I be,' or use plural pronouns when referring to a singular person or object.
Recall petitions are legal filings. For legal filings spelling and grammar are very important. I had a probate issue that got delayed for 3 months because of an and/or issue by my lawyer.
“Her” preferred pronoun is: “WTF?”............

Excellent comment!
Really sums it up.
Thanks for that.
I can see absolutely NO spelling errors and the grammar is straightforward.
So it’s clear that the Canvassing Board is nothing but a corrupt protection racket for the self installed office holders of Michigan.
Lovely place. Lovely people.
Court rules recall petitions against Gov. Whitmer, Lt. Gov. Gilchrist can move forward
What a remarkable resemblance to Mr Yunioshi (Breakfast at Tiffany’s)
It’s easy to spot “liberal” women. Yikes.
