At this point, Mittens is the media’s paragon of a good, “successful” Republican... a milquetoast moderate who graciously serves as “designated loser.” Sort of like the role that the Washington Generals play relative to the Harlem Globetrotters.

Whoever the GOP nominates in ‘24 will be “Satan’s Evil Twin” to the Amazon Compost. Rat Party Headquarters is convinced that that’s what gave them victory last year (of course the massive fraud isn’t contemplated).

Successful campaign to what?
Be the designated loser to the democrat?

The primary contest began in 2011 with a fairly wide field. Mitt Romney, former Governor of Massachusetts and the runner-up in the 2008 primaries, had been preparing to run for president ever since the 2008 election, and was from early on the favorite to win the nomination.

“the field was down to four candidates by February 2012: Former House speaker Newt Gingrich, U.S. Congressman Ron Paul, former Governor Romney and former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum.

Three different candidates won the first three contests. Santorum, who had been running a one-state campaign in Iowa, narrowly won in that state’s caucuses by a handful of votes over Romney (who was thought to have won the caucuses before a recount). Romney won New Hampshire, but lost South Carolina to Gingrich. From there, Romney regained his momentum by winning the crucial state of Florida, while Santorum took his campaign national and carried three more states before Super Tuesday, while Romney carried seven states.

Super Tuesday primaries took place on March 6. With ten states voting and 391 delegates being allocated, it had less than half the potential impact of its 2008 predecessor. Romney carried six states and Santorum three, while Gingrich won his home state of Georgia.

Santorum suspended his campaign on April 10, a week after losing Wisconsin and two other primaries to Romney. Gingrich followed suit on May 2, after the Republican National Committee (RNC) declared Romney the presumptive nominee on April 25 and put its resources behind him.

Romney reached the nominating threshold of 1,144 delegates by most projected counts following his primary win in Texas.

Romney chose congressman Paul Ryan to be his running mate but they went on to lose the general election to incumbent President Barack Obama. Ryan later went on to serve a term as Speaker of the United States House of Representatives and Romney was elected to the U.S. Senate from Utah in 2018.

The sitting Republican governors should chose the Republican presidential candidate in my opinion.

The MSM has found their stooge for 2024.
Jeb was their pick for 2016 in spite the fact no one could ever find anyone who wanted him.
Now we get the Clueless Mormon and his Minions.

Are you crazy? Do you really want Larry Hogan and Asa Hutchinson picking the GOP nom? I think not.

“Walter Mondale’s successful 1984 campaign could serve as a template for 2024 Democrat hopefuls.”

Fixed it.

Sadly, it probably will — the swamp wants a Republican who loses gracefully, while being apologetic about running at all.

Yes, I left that out. I don't know about governors, or only governors, but since the job of the nominee is to win an election, the people who know something about winning elections should have most of the clout.

For the stooge media, this is exactly the point. Their idea of “success” is for the Republicans to nominate a milquetoast patsy, who then goes on to lose to a radical and extremist Democrat.
