Farmers in California’s Central Valley Project will get none of their water allocations in 2021, according to the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation. Urban areas served by the Central Valley Project will receive 25% of their contracted amount, reported San Francisco Gate (May 26).
In February, farmers in the region were allocated 5% of their contract supply as dwindling water supplies forced drastic cuts. The cuts were reminiscent of the historic drought in 2015, which also resulted in dramatically lower water allocations.
During normal times, the Central Valley Project provides drinking water to 2.5 million people annually, and nearly 5 million acre-feet of water to farmers. However, 2021 is anything but a normal year, with two winters of dry conditions threatening water supplies across much of the West.
Water supplies in northern California near the Oregon border went from dire to catastrophic after federal regulators shut off irrigation water to farmers from the Klamath Reclamation Project, a first for the 114-year-old irrigation system. The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation said hundreds of irrigators would get dramatically less water this year, reported CBS San Francisco (May 15).

Maybe scarcity of food will lead people to finally take action against their government. NAH! People have no collective will to fight any more.
This is how Noah Cross was able to buy up the San Joaquin Valley for pennies on the dollar.
Can water be piped in from Canada? That is if there is some.
Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant would have had excess energy to purify sea water, IF ONLY . . ..
Sure hope the Delta-Smelt have enough water......
One of my sons lives near Spokane, and he spoke of the drought there about four weeks ago.

Endangered fish, fowl, insect, etc will get 100% of their water allocation. Wealthy ecologically minded homes will get 100% of their allocation. Farmers will 100% of their land to the land scammers like The Nature Conservancy and American Rivers. Prices for vegetables across the country will go up 100%.

That’s a lie, water to farmers from the Klamath Reclamation Project has been repeatedly shut off since 2001.
The Desert Southwest is a desert for a reason....California was never meant to be a breadbasket for parts of the world...AZ has plowed under some of the richest farming land for residential development...we're mining water...it can't be replaced...there are answers to sustainability...we know what they are and it isn't processed food.
Brilliant.
Destroy the food supply.
Really dry this year in Eastern Washington and North Idaho. We pray for rain daily—even my cat is doing her kitty rain dance.
LA was built to divert water, not save it. They won't let farmers build retaining ponds they can fill during any wet season.
It's unsustainable unless they make major changes they won't make.

I would imagine there’s plenty of water in the Columbia River.
Say, does’t the fabled ‘Train to Nowhere’ have a station in a city in the middle of that drought-stricken area?
Send all the illegal immigrants back south, and there will be a lot fewer people to use the water on.
I’m amazed how many freepers think they should distribute more water than they have — embarrassing.
Don’t they have desalination plants?
You would think, but the entire west coast is poisoned mentally from liberalism.
The illegals are drinking up all of the water!
