There was also an armed militant leftist black group, called something like the African Blood Brotherhood, on one side and the KKK then appearing on the other. Law and order was pretty fragile there….Tulsa made its living off of prostitution, bootlegging and gambling, and a white man had been lynched by a mob about a year earlier…after they had dragged him out of police custody. I’m NOT reading up on this because in my 71 years I NEVER EVER heard of this before. It was a HUNDRED years ago, and it’s just ANOTHER “hands up, don’t shoot”, “Burn it down”, EXCUSE to steal big screen TVs.

Your 3rd sentence answers your first. The fact that you were born only 30 years after this happened, while people who did it went about their lives unpunished and you never heard about it is why to talk about it. It’s a really bad thing that happened and then it just got swept under the rug. Things need to be acknowledged.

You can tell by the replies you are getting that certain people, a sizable percentage, want to live in their bubble and don’t want to hear about alternative opinions. I have been on this site since 97 and have come to realize most , certainly not all, people come here to have their beliefs reinforced. They want to live in their own amen corner and are offended if you remind them that alternative opinions exist.

That said, the Tulsa riots are being used as justification for reparations. It’s bullschit but we can’t just turn a blind eye to it. We need to know what our enemies are saying and we need to know how to combat their arguments

The original agreement was for $100,000 for each survivor and a $2 million “seed gift" to a reparations coalition fund, the commission’s chair, State Senator Kevin Matthews (D), said in a press conference on Friday afternoon. At the last minute, Matthews said, the lawyers had changed their mind and asked for $1 million for each survivor and $50 million for the fund."
