I live about 20 minutes south of the Canadian border, which used to be called the longest undefended frontier in the world. People moved freely back and forth across it all day every day. But now it’s been closed for over a year. At one point my daughter asked me to drive her up there, because there was a 30-minute opportunity for people on one side to talk to their friends on the other. “Sad!” as President Trump would say. It was like Checkpoint Charlie in Berlin during the Cold War, except that both sides are now like East Berlin.
I don’t know how this happened, but it is just one indication that America, and the West in general, have become almost unrecognizable from what they were not that long ago.
Look at just three things we have lost.
One is equality before the law, something absolutely essential to a free society. In its place, we now have politicized law. If a policeman fatally shoots someone, whether his name is released to the public depends on whether the shooting is consistent with the preferred narrative of the ruling class. A policeman recently took down a young woman who was threatening the life of another young woman with a knife, and that policeman was immediately identified—indeed, his photo was posted and he was threatened by NBA superstar LeBron James on Twitter. On the other hand, we know nothing of the policeman who shot dead an unarmed woman in the U.S. Capitol on January 6. His name will apparently never be released to the public.

Equality before the law? Is this piece from the 19th century? We haven’t had equality before the law in a long time. That lack of inequality might be tilting a bit differently so now Mark is finally noticing but it’s NEVER not tilted.
The most depressing thing is that what Steyn says about "conservative" politicians is absolutely true: they're clueless about how bad the situation is. Even in Texas we can't get the monstrosity of "transgender" sports and child mutilation banned, and Abbot does nothing effective to stem the tidal wave of illegals coming into Texas.
A very good, yet very sobering piece. This country is in rapid decline.
Implying that the radical social agenda is not already in place.

This is another of Steyn's "of course" pieces. You read it and say, "Of course!"
The U.S. is no longer a God fearing nation. The atheistic Dems kicked God out of their political platform. In our next battle, like now for instance with China, we longer can claim to have God on our side. We have turned bad. And the world is watching and knows. 62 million babies murdered. And that is just in the States. Now, with a Dem President, we are exporting the abortion industry via International Planned Parenthood and the Mexico City Policy. Atheists are running the country.

“Our Increasingly Unrecognizable Civilization”
We no longer have a civilization. We have lunacy.
I have been watching a few drama shows on network TV, something I haven’t done in years. There are a few changes such as:
1. Very few white people are stars anymore.
2. The “man in charge” is now a black female.
3. The bad guys are almost always white, and one had a Southern accent the other night. He murdered eight people in an hour show.
4. The real tough hombres have been replaced by black females.
5. Homosexuality is considered a very special and superior lifestyle.
6. Transvestism, once an illegal pursuit, has now had its name changed to transgender and is now protected and promoted by our betters.
7. All these changes are definitely not organically coming up through the population, but forced down on us by the corrupt fools who run the nation.
Dark days... dark days.....
