An international group of scientists has ditched ethical guidelines in or to allow them to pursue grisly experiments that would grow unborn babies in the womb for 40 days for the sole purpose of killing them for dubious research. Getting an abortion isn't like donating blood. Where are they supposed to find women who would allow themselves to be impregnated just so they could have an abortion 40 days later? Wouldn't it be easier just to call their local PP Abortion mill?

Up until 14 days, there is no neurological tissue.
The nervous system develops between weeks 2 and 5 after conception. Thus, at some point during that time, the embryo becomes capable of feeling and awareness.
Therefore, these scientists have voted to allow experimentation on embryos that have some level of awareness.
Several months ago, I read an article that quoted an autism researcher who basically showed no empathy for unborn humans. That particular article was about the ethics of using human brains developed to the 12 week stage. The researcher saw no difference between using 12 week old human brains (which theoretically are conscious, but do not receive input from their environment) and using animals, which no one denies are sentient. He said that it does not matter whether the human brains have sentience, if studying them helps give insights into autism that might help his autistic son.
There are definitely people who believe that the ends justifies the means. These scientists are examples of that.
