USA is facing backlash for editing a column from the “fastest” girl in Connecticut who wrote about how unfair it was to be competing in track against biologically male athletes.
Alliance Defending Freedom, which is representing Chelsea Mitchell in Soule v. Connecticut Association of School, said the column first ran on May 22 but on May 25 USA Today issued an editor’s note at the top and changed the word “male” throughout the piece.
“This column has been updated to reflect USA TODAY’s standards and style guidelines. We regret that hurtful language was used,” the editors wrote, referencing Mitchell describing her transgender competitors as male.
For example, in the original column Mitchell wrote: “Instead, all I can think about is how all my training, everything I’ve done to maximize my performance, might not be enough, simply because there’s a runner on the line with an enormous physical advantage: a male body."
It now reads: “Instead, all I can think about is how all my training, everything I’ve done to maximize my performance, might not be enough, simply because there’s a transgender runner on the line with an enormous physical advantage.”
These changes have been made wherever Mitchell used the word “male,” prompting backlash on social media.
What was the "hurtful language" that editors deleted from Chelsea's opinion piece three days after publication? The word "male." 2/3— Christiana Holcomb (@ChristianaADF) May 26, 2021
USA Today violated its principles to appease the mob. This blatant censorship violates the trust we place in media to be honest brokers of public debate.
Chelsea’s experience & viewpoint matters. That’s why we’re posting her original piece here https://t.co/bs6lRIxJq0. 3/3— Christiana Holcomb (@ChristianaADF) May 26, 2021
Outrageous. @usatoday changed Mitchell's words, post-publication, on the grounds that the word "male" is hurtful.
The activists know well that Mitchell can't make her argument without that word.
Shame on the useful idiots of USAToday.
If only they had half Mitchell's courage. https://t.co/Llk9Si2w3z— Abigail Shrier (@AbigailShrier) May 27, 2021
This is the second incident I've heard of where leftist propaganda outlets such as USA Today have altered words post-publication from conservative groups whose politics they oppose. Garbage. https://t.co/y9ARdCl89z— Mollie (@MZHemingway) May 27, 2021
Absolutely incredible. You literally can't make an argument in corporate media with conceding to the terms set by the left. https://t.co/n1SvDZ87Or— Mark Hemingway (@Heminator) May 27, 2021
USA Today is Fake News
They made their own bed, ley them lie in it.
putting words into quotations as though the person they are quoting said them, is deceitful
but of course deceitful is a white idea
the left thinks of words as fluid
These people are truly insane................
What they don’t realize is that when they are no longer needed by the Left, they will get the Ernst Rohm treatment............
I pray for serious backlash against those supporting this transgender nonsense.
Females voted for this in overwhelmingly numbers.
It is not right in any way to change someone’s quote into something else and still use quotation marks. That breaks every rule of ethics. It breaks the “thou shalt not lie” rule.
While we are at it, why does the media make reference to transgender this or that. If someone is really a female, just say they are female. The use of transgender is confusing and unnecessary.
Perhaps the inclusion of the word transgender is to tip the unwary reader off that the story contains a scam.
All revolutions devour their own children.
By its editing behavior USA Today again identifies itself as the enemedia supporting perversion in the U.S.
“For example, in the original column Mitchell wrote: “Instead, all I can think about is how all my training, everything I’ve done to maximize my performance, might not be enough, simply because there’s a runner on the line with an enormous physical advantage: a male body.”
It now reads: “Instead, all I can think about is how all my training, everything I’ve done to maximize my performance, might not be enough, simply because there’s a transgender runner on the line with an enormous physical advantage.” “
Reminds me of that picture of Stalin. walking along the banks of a river with a bunch of minions, one of whom conveniently disappears in later editions of the picture. USA Today, our very own contemporary version of Pravda, complete with a readily-accessible memory hole. Welcome to the Ministry of Truth.
Eliminating the word "male" is hurtful.
Man, I’d like to get my hands on some of these people just one time.
We are already under communism and do not know it.
We have defense contractors conducting training for white, male executives about their white privilege in order to continue currying favor with the communist party leadership dictates.
We have corporations and businesses regulated by gov't that are enacting the policies and donating to the causes chosen by the communist party leaders in order to prevent being regulated out of existence.
We have citizens being doxxed for speaking out against the communist party leaders on social media so they can be personally destroyed. Thousands of conservatives have lost their jobs for social media posts that disagree with the cancel culture.
We have the FBI working with social media platforms to hunt down protesters that disagreed with the communist leadership.
We have a media and entertainment structure that bows to every dictate originating from the communist party leadership.
We have no rule of law, we have the rule of the communist leadership. Those who are in good standing are protected (Clinton, Cuomo, Newsome) while those not are mercilessly attacked nonstop...truth be damned.
“Females voted for this in overwhelmingly numbers.”
What a truly wonderful example of,
“Be careful what you wish for....
and
“Hoisted on their own petard”
The very first issue of this toilet rag, on page one, declared its pro-abortionism. Ain’t looked at or bought one since way back then. So, nothing would surprise me. I’m surprised this filthy rag has lasted this long.
For generations women have been pushing into male dominated spaces with almost 100% success. From our churches, to fire fighting, to the military, to sports any woman can walk in, demand access and special accommodations.
Now, when the tide has turned, they are demanding someone save them from men in skirts intruding into their spaces.
No man will be able to fight for you now. We have no say. This is an area that women will have to fight by themselves and themselves ONLY.
You have come a long way, enjoy it.
USA Today violated its principles of logic truth reason and sane understanding of life what a bunch of lemmings.
USA Today violated its principles to appease the mob.
“This column has been updated to reflect USA TODAY’s standards”
I.E., no standards
