Mark Ruffalo apologized this week for suggesting that Israel committed “genocide” during its 11-day conflict with Palestinian militants in Gaza.
“I have reflected & wanted to apologize for posts during the recent Israel/Hamas fighting that suggested Israel is committing ‘genocide’,” the outspoken actor tweeted Monday.
“It’s not accurate, it’s inflammatory, disrespectful & is being used to justify antisemitism here & abroad. Now is the time to avoid hyperbole.”

You most likely are correct. In my opinion, he probably was told that his favorability rating among his Jewish fans had decreased and that he needed to do something about it. So, he offers a disingenuous “apology.” It is amazing what a B list actor will do to keep the dollars flowing.
